Right.......sorry.......................hitest turns red and bursts into flames. Sheesh, I did read that you had connectivity problems as well......dang. (bangs head into keyboard) Yes, I did know that Ubuntu only does a base install, I've run it before.........good luck with this , Dragon. It's too bad that you couldn't use another box to download the utilty that you need, if that's even possible.

It's in the dhcpcd package. Ubuntu must not include it in the base install. Perhaps you can use synaptic or apt-get to install the package, Dragon? I'm not running Ubuntu at the present time, so I can't see if that is offered in the package groups.

That is so cool! So if I understand the concept you can send files from one of your Linux boxes to the network burner over your LAN and burn it there even if you don't have a burner on the original sending linux box.

hmm a few notes... all Linux distros have a package manager, Red hat uses APT or YUM , SUSE has YAST (think synaptic for yum) second, you will need an older distro with an updated kernel to get wifi support. try an older slackware or something. Puppy and DSL (damn small linux) should run, but installing new software is not what they are made to do, as they are live cd distros.. here is a write up about linux on old computer.. http://www.fraw.org.uk/pubs/ssp/ssp-01.html while there is a cool factor of getting that last bit of performance from an old system.. $300 is well spent on a newer mach
