When you check in Device Manager and look in Universal Serial Bus controllers, do you see Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Controller?

How about a few minutes on "symptoms to look for" on your system to see if an infection has already occured?

What does "faster" mean. I always hear about faster HDDs. How are you guys measuring the speed? Are we talking about seconds or milliseconds and what tasks are you talking about? Are you talking about search times, read times, or write times? Would the average person really notice any difference? What's a practical application that I could run and see/measure the difference in?

Do you think Mickey D's could get "1 Million Served" fish fillet sandwitches out of that bad boy?

It's a good thing you have a regular backup process in place to ease the pain of a failed HD. At least you won't be losing any material. Or, will you?

I usually try and have folks spell out the details when troubleshooting or helping them. I've been bit too many times guessing or assuming.

What exactly are you doing with your PC that requires a concern with performance? If all you're doing is web browsing, office, and email you should be good to go.

I would guess that had Microsoft never come along, most of the bashers would still be in their rooms with a box of Kleenex. I'm still waiting for them to write the bizillion lines of code required for an OS and launch it, problem free and hacker proof. Rant over...... Carry on.
