Are there any indications of problems with the units in Device Manager? Any codes mentioned?

What folks will do for some spare change.

Check HERE for info......

Here is some info you may want to read through. Depending on your expertise will determine how much you want to tackle on your own. You may also look at reviewing the Malware Removal section of this site and see about posting a HijackThis log for the site experts to look over. They will be able to walk you through any removal processes needed.

What model is your lappy? If you go into Device Manager, what is the condition of your network adapter? Does it indicate it is working properly?
-
Does your laptop have a switch to enable wireless? A lot of the new ones do. Do you have a connection icon in the lower right of the screen that identifies available networks and allows you to connect to one? What does the manual say about enabling wireless?

Did Bluetooth come installed in the lappy?

I would keep reading on the subject until you find and feel comfortable with a fix.
See info from Microsoft here.... Security Bulletin
-
It appears that the fix listed in this forum thread is on the up and up.

Big time P2P user, huh?

Since all the new stuff is coming out in a month or so, I have decided to wait it out for the better pricing !
In the mean time, I want to try and see if I can beef up my dinosaur and get it to run AoC on the lowest setting(just to get started)
Whats the best processor I can throw on this mobo and get it to work? intell says the 3.06 p4...Intel® Desktop Boards - D845PECE
Would it even be worth it ??? if I pick one of those up on the cheap and overclock it to 3.5.... will I be ok ??
the rest of the computer has a 128MB AGP Radeon 9800 , 378mhz GPU clock speed (stock)
and 2 GB of pc2700 333mhz ram on a 19'' monitor I believe....I can use my 17'' if its too much for the 19''.
would I even be able to get playable frame rate???
You sure can't argue with Intel's knowledge of their product. See the attached:

"You should have spell check on Outlook Express, I do and it is where I told you to find it. As far I know it only appears when you are creating an email to send to someone. "
You won't have a spell checker in OE if you don't have Office, Word, or Works installed.

any one know what spell checker

Now that the peregrin falcon nesting season is in full swing I have noticed a problem when viewing one of the falcon sites I frequent. It happens in IE7 and not in Fire Fox so there must be something turned off or not installed that has eluded me to date.
When I visit this site, Kodak peregrin site with Fire Fox, evetything is displayed properly. When I vist the site in IE7, I am unable to view the pictures on the multiview page. I get the 4 boxes but the pictures will not open and it says "loading". The picture in the main view opens just fine. I also noticed that the "Fifth" that is blinking (just above the pictures) is blinking in Fire Fox but not in IE7.
If you have a few minutes and can take a peek at the site and have some ideas for me, I would appreciate it.
For grins, here is another nesting site in Cleveland......Cleveland falcon site...
Added Info: Active Scripting IS enabled as is Scripting of Java applets.
Problem was fixed by removing IE7Pro. Guess I need to dig into that program and see what I need to change.

Video card or onboard video port crapped out.
BTW. I still use IE6 fully updated for when it is needed. I refuse to allow IE7 on my system.
The motherboard is:
ASUS A7N8-LA I believe.
Don't see a video card---only onboard video port.
Does this mean we will have to replace the motherboard?
You could try installing a video card to see if your problem is resolved. If you have one or know someone with a spare, pop it in, load the drivers and see.

What make and model is your PC or motherboard?

Only 66 here today, so now that I'm home from the gym, I won't be venturing out except to get the mail. Brrrrr....

Only getting to 77 here today, so I may put on a light jacket and work around in the yard for awhile when I get back from the gym. Can't wait for spring....

I would go with the Crucial memory as it is guaranteed to be compatible and is good memory.
