  1. Since all the new stuff is coming out in a month or so, I have decided to wait it out for the better pricing !

In the mean time, I want to try and see if I can beef up my dinosaur and get it to run AoC on the lowest setting(just to get started)

Whats the best processor I can throw on this mobo and get it to work? intell says the 3.06 p4...Intel® Desktop Boards - D845PECE

Would it even be worth it ??? if I pick one of those up on the cheap and overclock it to 3.5.... will I be ok ??

the rest of the computer has a 128MB AGP Radeon 9800 , 378mhz GPU clock speed (stock)

and 2 GB of pc2700 333mhz ram on a 19'' monitor I believe....I can use my 17'' if its too much for the 19''.

would I even be able to get playable frame rate???

You sure can't argue with Intel's knowledge of their product. See the attached:

    Intel D845PECE.

  2. "You should have spell check on Outlook Express, I do and it is where I told you to find it. As far I know it only appears when you are creating an email to send to someone. "

You won't have a spell checker in OE if you don't have Office, Word, or Works installed.

  3. Now that the peregrin falcon nesting season is in full swing I have noticed a problem when viewing one of the falcon sites I frequent. It happens in IE7 and not in Fire Fox so there must be something turned off or not installed that has eluded me to date.

When I visit this site, Kodak peregrin site with Fire Fox, evetything is displayed properly. When I vist the site in IE7, I am unable to view the pictures on the multiview page. I get the 4 boxes but the pictures will not open and it says "loading". The picture in the main view opens just fine. I also noticed that the "Fifth" that is blinking (just above the pictures) is blinking in Fire Fox but not in IE7.

If you have a few minutes and can take a peek at the site and have some ideas for me, I would appreciate it.

For grins, here is another nesting site in Cleveland......Cleveland falcon site...

Added Info: Active Scripting IS enabled as is Scripting of Java applets.

Problem was fixed by removing IE7Pro. Guess I need to dig into that program and see what I need to change.

  4. Video card or onboard video port crapped out.

BTW. I still use IE6 fully updated for when it is needed. I refuse to allow IE7 on my system.

    The motherboard is:

    ASUS A7N8-LA I believe.

Don't see a video card---only onboard video port.

Does this mean we will have to replace the motherboard?

You could try installing a video card to see if your problem is resolved. If you have one or know someone with a spare, pop it in, load the drivers and see.
