Well if you had just said How do I make my computer faster; I would have said take sky diving lessons and jump out of a perfectly good airplane with it and it will go really fast. But you want to make it run. This is a bit harder. Since computers do not have legs like androids they have difficulty running. What we need to know is is your machine infected (hence the hijackthis log request/ suggestion) ? What specific problems do you have ? (Is it slow to boot up? Slow to launch programs? Slow on the internet? ) What do you have installed and running (what antivirus , what applications again th

Ah yes, the joy of the slow cooker. Unfortunately once it gets smelling good the OL keeps asking when it will be ready. That is one reason I was leaning towards trying the pressure cooker recipe out. Twenty minute tamales sounds like something I could get into making fairly regularly just like the stove top enchiladas. HMMM maybe cheese enchiladas for breakfast. (hmm thanks bill just checked about.com and recipe for cheese enchiladas with olives sounds like breakfast material).

Have you installed the windows drivers for the printer on the windows machine? Reverse issue discussed here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1404 http://www.mac-connect.com/ http://www.mac-connect.com/printer_sharing_win.php

Possibly; or just to confuse moderators. After all how many of them bother to check links in sigs and profiles? Especially when they show as "my website" Secondly even if the thread is locked or removed and the poster banned their profile often remains public an accessible.

Yeah, last night after I made them Good Eats had the Tamale episode . Alton Brown recommended steam for an hour, checking water level every fifteen minutes. Then test at one hour, one hour fifteen and one and a half hours to see if the masa pulls free from the corn husk . When it pulls free cleanly it is done. Here I was trying to get it firm. The ones that sat overnight and were rewarmed came out perfect. Hmm wonder if pressure cooker could cut time. Quick google indicates fifteen to twenty minutes at fifteen pounds pressure. http://www.vivanewmexico.com/nm/food.recip...nas.platos.html Ta

I guess I never started the geeks in the kitchen thread; so I'll put this here. Yesterday we tried our hand at making Tamales. Pork Loins were on for $1.49 so we bought one and after making scallopini one night and stir fry the next we cut the rest up into thick chops and simmered them in barbeque sauce with onions and poblano peppers. This left us with a problem of what to use the leftover cutlets for; so I decided to try my hand at tamales (we went to a market that had watermelons on for $1 each and they had corn husks in the bin next to it so the OL said Tamales). I minced up the pork and

On yesterdays speech President Obama brought up the site http://www.opportunity.gov redirects to http://federalstudentaid.ed.gov/opportunity/index.html which lists New Educational Opportunities for Unemployed Workers

Odd that she (he) uses the same user name and posts the same thing so many places. I fail to see the point. Maybe a sociology or psych student trying to gather data. Although it seems that a common thread is the site that you get sent to if you check out his profile on any of them and click view my website. Icontact.com Hot Russian women. I guess that is the point of it all. Lonely hearts scam.

Click the download manual. The manual should have instructions for disabling the onboard sound (AC 97). Once disabled you can buy a cheap sound card and install it. $13 is not bad http://shop4.frys.com/product/2466340?site...CH:MAIN_RSLT_PG $8 is even better http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....amp;Order=PRICE

Well that explains why the cmedia drivers do not work , it is a realtek.

Have you disabled firewalls? Are they on the same network? Same workgroup? One more reason I prefer a network ready printer that hooks up to your router either wired or wirelessly.

Guess he was just venting or he turned off his internet connection to save money.

Well that was nothing new. The serial number is unimportant. What I am looking for is a motherboard maker and model like Biostar M6VLR Then we could get the correct drivers as in this instance http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en-us/mb/driver.php?S_ID=155 The system model and main circuit board sections in the belarc report should help Is that all it says is SPM Micro? Good idea to save a copy of your belarc report or print it since it has some useful info like license keys. Okay, lets try a different tool SIW http://www.gtopala.com/siw-diff.html Download the freeware version for home use Run it

Code 10 tends to mean you have an incompatible, outdated, or corrupted device driver. My advice would be to go to your computer manufacturers website and download the driver pack from them; the motherboard, and sound card drivers. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943104/ I see you have an Did any one ask you to run everest home or SIW or belarc advisor (try that first) to see if it can verify your sound card info and provide motherboard ID? http://www.softwaretipsandtricks.com/forum...6-no-sound.html Having trouble finding SPM Micro, maybe they went un

At first I read that as "I guess that was her institutional reaction and thought you were saying your sister had escaped from an institution , kidnapped you and terrorized you by giggling insanely while running red lights in the rain. Some pics of the cat and kittens

Yeah, I remember driving in storms like that while in the Army; you could not see the vehicle in front of you or behind nor oncoming traffic; just the lines on the road and only for a short distance. Everyone should have pulled over; but then that too would have been dangerous. I guess we did slow down gradually . I try not to drive in the heavy stuff when it is predicted after driving into a hail storm once. No damage since the wind was blowing in the other direction and it was almost as if the hail was falling in front of me and not on top and as long as I kept steady pace none hit the w

Radar clear now. I think rain is over until tuesday PM. Momma cat is black with white boots and mittens. One kitten (male) is same. One (male) is black with white socks One (female) and one (male) solid black. Yep, the second round of storms left the whole yard totally under water. Momma cat hunts and catches squirrels (seen her catch one) and rats (just bits of carcasses left) and her first shit could peel the paint off the walls. (Actually used the litter box I had provided; but then not much free space other than that to shit in). Hopefully she will not be too offended by having to eat ca

Big rains here yesterday. 70MPH straight line winds blew down the Cowboys Practice facility ( a three story behemoth that has an indoor air conditioned foot ball field). http://www.wfaa.com/sharedcontent/dws/wfaa...s.11e43627.html We got tons of rain, the back yard turned into a pond with standing water . Half way through the first batch the OL said she heard something screaming in the side yard. I went out in the rain and discovered that the neighborhood feral cat had had kittens and they were on the one dry spot surrounded by six inch deep water screaming desperately as rain poured down an

Things are getting very green here. Had one day off from the rain, just barely . Long enough to spray the yards ( fleas, mosquitoes, those webworm/bagworm things that like to eat your trees etc) more rain due today and tomorrow (another 3 inches) and then two days off before more on Wednesday. Some flooding north and south (oklahoma border lake texoma and nacoma got about 13 inches of rain as did some areas around houston) but here the street flooding in poorly drained areas or where the drains are plugged is only brief. Still they warn you not to drive into water, no idea how deep it could b

Yep, the microsft kernel acoustic echo canceller is not standard; so unless you have one attached uninstalling it was the right thing to do. But you should have an AC97 entry if you have onboard sound. If the new card has been removed; you should try reinstalling the drivers and software for your onboard sound.
-
First off go to control panel => add/remove programs and see if there are any entries from either sound card with a uninstaller. Uninstall the software Then go to control panel => hardware => device manager=> Sound, video and game controllers Locate any sound cards there and uninstall / remove Shut down computer. Leave just one sound card connected. Boot up and let windows detect it and search for best driver. Would have been easier if at the first sign of trouble you had just gone to device manager and rolled back the driver. Good article http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar05/a

Well I had a few problems when I adopted it (desktop resized, problems with images saved from web not stretching to fit when used as wallpaper) but nothing major. One person recently updated and encountered problems with a cdburner plugin (Browser Helper Object for Drive Letter Access to allow saving files you download directly to CDR and enabling drag and drop from web pages to CDR) but that was easy to fix. Overall it is ready; the big problem is that many of the fixes are necessary but they disable functions which other software may have relied on and that software is not necessarily bein
