maybe even make the computer a little smaller and exagerate the sun. I want the ad to emphasise optimism(with the sun).

You did it exactly how I asked for it, but something isn't quit e right(in my mind). below is the same size ad of a competiter of mine. See how it does not seem so crowded. http://yellowbook.com/Listing/INT/1451228/...5901&CT=3&CS=1& I like the format of the lettering on the right. So it should not be a problem getting all of the info in there Also I do not think they can print it with different shade of yellow like you did

I was suggested to do it this way. It is kind of easy but seems effective. Make an install script that will copy a directory containing both my script and python modules all to a directory location /usr/local/share/pythonrip. Then the install script would also install a script called pythonrip to /usr/local/bin. this script would contain the following #!/bin/sh export PYTHONPATH=$PYTHONPATH:/usr/local/share/pythonrip /usr/local/share/pythonrip/pythonrip.py #this command runs my pythonscript from the python.org docs I would like to learn to use distutils, it seems to have lots of cool featur

In all honesty I like the first one. If that could be done with one solid shade of yellow, and the rest grey scale and just have this info: Bright-Eyed Computer Service and Repair www.brighteyedcomputer.com 507-252-0334 but keep the proportions of the letters just like you did

the ad is 4 inches by 2.5 inches, so that info should fit. what is the wording on the moniter, is that a copyprotected image?

in all honesty I am not exactly sure. I have an appointment with the yellow pages guy tomarrow. what would your picture look like in yellow and black?
-
@handplane that is nice. I don't want to say anything critical, espessially when you took the time to design something. It would have to be black and white, or actually black and yellow. I guess I am picturing a simpler drawing, without a lot of shading. Maybe even an image of a sun behind the computer, just a thought. I also would like the whole background of the ad to be yellow, with exception to the graphic and the inversing around the letters. So both the phone number and the business name are written in yellow in a black square. Feel free to laugh at this request, I am sure you have a li

that is a good reason :-) even my python script depends on a program called avitype. There may be a way to do the whole thing in c++ , but I am not sure. After reading your post I thought to goto the library and get a c++ book and try to rewrite it, purely for "a learning experience". Let me know how things go

I did this search shane@mainbox shane $ find /usr/lib/python2.3/ | grep "DiscID" /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/mmpython/disc/DiscID.py /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/mmpython/disc/DiscID.pyc /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/mmpython/disc/DiscID.pyo /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/DiscID.py /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/DiscID.pyc I noticed DiscID is installed with mmpython. Reading the source code for that particular module, it said it had some bug fixes that differed from the originalv DiscID. I need to get to the basics, I am not even sure which version gets imported. My gut says t

I am completely inexperienced with designing any graphic. I need to come up with a grapphic using a simple black out line, or a grey scale image of a computer with the sun or sunlight in the background. This will be used for a yellow pages ad. The companys name is bright-eyed computer. It is for service and repair. the ad is four inches across, and two inches high. I am invisioning a small graphic on the left side, with my business name, services provided and phone number on the right 2/3ths of the ad. I would GREATLY appreciate any type of graphic you could design. It just needs to be very si

Are you looking for a way to make mplayer config files with c++ ? Is there any specific reason you want to port this to c++ ?

I was thinking about adding some features to my python script for ripping and encoding mp3s. Maybe even getting it hosted at sourceforge. I am very unknowledable in this whole area. I guess I am invisioning an installer that would install the script in /usr/local. My script is dependent on these python modules CDDB and DiscID. To keep it simple for the user is it ok to group these two modules with my script all in one tarball. Then just have the user type a single command to do the install. In all honestly I am not even sure what it takes to properly install python modules. Do I need to get th

SURE YOU CAN, that is how your learn :-)

pythonrip.py I wrote a fairly useful program for ripping and encoding your music cds to mp3. The cool thing it does is uses the CDDB data base to get the real names of the songs, so it can name them properly. It also makes the song titles linux friendly by replacing spaces with underscores. It is really easy to use. you just make a directory, change into the directory, and run the script. It will prompt you for the desired bitrate to use. If you deside to try it, let me know how it works for you. it has one known issue. the CDDB module seems to need read access to your cdrom(at least on my co

I am confident I am doing everything up to code. I guess I was more looking for some answers on electrical theory. I apprecate all of your cautious comments.

I have been working on a script that rips music cds and encodes, and renames files using the CDDB database. I noticed the script failed when a "/" is in the name of the file I want to change the name to. Example: >>> os.rename('track04.cdda.wav.mp3','The Rolling Stones / Intro Excerpt From Fanfare For The Common Man.mp3') Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in ? OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory if I remove the "/" the above code works just fine, so I am pretty certain the "/" is causing the problem but I am able to use that symbol with strin

I feel confident with my skills. I just have never wired anything 220. I just thought it was interesting that 220 appliences do not use a neutral, in some way they can return current along the hot.
-
a niebor I talked to said with a 220 system, the 2 hots also act as the return path, could someone explain how this could be possible, or at least back it up as a true statemant.
-
the system is definaely 220volt(it is coming monday). How could there be no neutral? Doesn't the electriciy need a return path? two hots and a ground seems unfeasible.

I am installing a central air unit. I have some help with the plumbing and rerigerant side of it. It is my job to install the electical box out side. This box consists of a couple of fuses, and a pullout switch. Here is where I am bumping heads with my helpers. They seem to think it is correct to connect both my ground(green) and my neutral(white) all together to the spot in the box, the place only the ground(green) is supposed to be connected. There rational is since the ground and neutral goto the same spot in the main elctrical box, it is ok. I know that is incorrect. Doing it the incorrect

using cfdisk is easy. Boot knoppix, open up a terminal, enter su <return> , then type cfdisk /dev/hdab this should be the location of your slave drive first delete every thing, then choose new, then choose the size, then the type(example ntfs). After you have set eveything up, you just choose write(to finalize it).
-
use cfdisk to make one 40 gb ntfs partition for windows. then leave the other 20 gb as unallocated. When you goto install linux, you can choose to install in unallocated space. Since you are dual booting linux and windows I would do the following. make a 30 gb partition ntfs for your windows OS installation. Then make a 30gb partition fat32, this can be used for "My Documents". then leave the rest as unallocated for linux. The cool thing is you can read and write to "my documents" from both linux and windows.
-
If it was me I would phisiaclly install the drvie, then boot up knoppix. Knoppix has program called cfdisk. It is a very good(easy) program for partitioning. Do you need this backup space availbale to linux, if so you may want to use fat32 for part of it? with cfdisk you are given the option to leave space unallocated. This is what you will want to do to prepare for linux. I would reccomend leaving 5 -10 gbs of unallocated space for your linux installation. The rest of the drive you will want to make it ntfs or fat32, or a combination of the two.

I like the eyeball, I could make that into a cool avatar. But it does not portray optimism, as "bright-eyed computer" is supposed to do.

I have a computer connected to my tv which I have my media library on. I personally prefer more of my screen being filled then a very widescreen movie shows. If you use mplayer and have avi files. This program will write a config file for each avi file that will tell mplayer how much to crop it #!/usr/bin/env python # authored by shane lindberg # This script makes configuration files for mplayer. In particular it makes a configuration that crops widescreen # avi files so they will better fit your 4:3 aspect tv or computer moniter # to run this program you need to to be in the directory tha
