  1. And of course, slow acceleration and coasting before braking

Opps! That kinda take "EXPRESS" out of the equation don't it? B) I want all of you to remember that when you order something overnite or next day service. :P Cheers! *shifts into exprees mode and off to work in a hissing downpour.. I can hear my garden singin' in the rain.....

  2. I just cut my chives back to about 4 inches high. the flowers were about gone and the stalks too tough for table use. They will come back quickly nice and tender. I will then cut a bunch, chop them up and freeze enough to last till next spring. Great in scrambled eggs, salads, casseroles, mix with mayo for a zing to your burgers, sprinkle on garlic bread with italian seasonings.

Try some soapy water sprayed on the aphids. Works well and biodegradable.

  3. I guess I should make better posts... Re: hardwood... the best of the best is cherry or hickory... for grilling that is. Apple is good too. If I remembered I could go out to the orchards and pick up the fruit tree trimmings... Oak from palets don't quite get it... it's great for an open fire cookout, but not for flavoring on a grill.

(*makes note to stop by the custom millwork place for shavings)

Hooray for the "sweaty mailman dance" taps toes to the music.

Been very hot here for 2 weeks... storms everywhere around us, but not much here. Ewww, weeding the garden.. dang buggers always grow faster then the veggies.

Blim, if you have a "good" surge protector it will have an equiptment guarentee.. Mine has places to plug in my cable and phone line too... Just need a Smart UPS to keep from the stupid hard crashes.. Need a bigger HDD anyway, but not just yet.

    Check this out.....

Flowers make a beautiful and tasty garnish for salads.

Chive flowers: light purple, mild chive flavour

Chrysanthemums: faint peppery to mild cauliflower flavour. Blanch first and

scatter on salad, or put the petals in a vinaigrette.

Daisies: light mint flavour, use petals only.

Day Lilies: Dramatic color with a slightly sweet taste.

Marigolds: mildy peppery flavour use petals on salads or in soups.

Nasturstium: bright color with a nice pepper or radish taste.

Pansies: Multicolored with a grape or clover flavour.

Rose Petals: Tastes as delicate as they smell. Used for centuries in jellies, jams, teas, and over salads.

Squash Blooms: Zucchini flavour, try it stuffed, sauteed, or fried.

Violets: Great purple color, with a sweet taste. Add to salads or mix in honey.

    Luv to all.....

  4. We're still using ol'fashioned charcoal (but we did upgrade to Spartan Brand Matchlight, just as good as the namebrand and no lighter fluid needed!) Gas grills are great because I hear you can grill when it's cold!

Hmmmm, never liked the "match lite" stuff, it has wax in it... So unless you let it burn off (like forever) your're introducing the petro porducts to your food.

As I said, most of my outdoor cooking has always been on just plain ole wood fires. I always hated firing up charcoal and waiting and waiting.... Not to mention the mess of ash and grills burning through.

I'm loving the "gassy". Lava rocks give you the even heat and flavor of an open fire, heats up faster, and is easier to keep clean. I am now searching for a free source of hardwood chips/sawdust to add even more flavor. ($120 at WalMart. fill up on the gas tank, $15)

Dinner tonite: Sirloin steak, asparagus-oiled and lemon jucied, garlic-buttered cheeze bread. All on the grill.

  5. Dang! Folks... other then the higher then normal temperatures, we are having a great June here. Not dry, not wet, not stormy, but a bit hotter then normal.

(gets on knees and weeds the garden, while thanking the almighty)

  6. *$2.29* !???!! &*$(#!((#!($)!* Fer cryin' out loud! 21 1/2 gals $44 and change. I just spent more to fill my car then I did at Ernie the Butchers for a weeks meat.

Ohhhh well... In the UK it's something like $6.50 a gal. USD

  7. Not a leaf down here Blim. I live in the Kalamazoo river valley and most of the storms affect the flatter lands to the south and north. Did get a lot of much needed rain. Too bad you're on city water... I have a well and all it costs is the price of running the pump. But as you know, the plants love rain watering much better then a hosing...

Anyone serious about grilling outside? We just got a gas grill and I have some old recipies that need sharing. Most of my grilling has been on an open wood fire these last many years. So I'm off to plop some BBQ chicken on the gassy and see how my skills carry over.

    Banana Bliss

Slit bananas lengthwise, in the peel. stuff with marshmallows and choc chips. wrap in foil and heat on medium for 5 mins. Yummy!

Marinade in honey and liquid in fridge one hour. Cook on lightly oiled hot grill about 10 minutes, till caramelized. Delish!

  8. Hey Mac. Thanx for taking some time with me. (and the kewl jams!)

My book says I have a 4.3L V6 CPI I know about the erg valve, but my mechanic says it's a valve in the cannister... (I trust him, and he deserves the hourly rate he gets) The van had the problem when my friendly neighborhood used car dealer first got it. I gave it a test drive and told him I would buy it if he fixed the low idle roughness...

He took it the the same shop I use and got the same diagnosis. Was fixed, I drove it for another 10 or so miles and it burped again. He returned it and I took ownership. A week or so later it burped again... talked to the dealer, and took it back to the shop. That's when he explaned to me the problem, and fixed it again for free. He is the one that said a new chip, or some hard work driving would fix the problem.

So far, it's running fine. I have been using a fuel injector cleaner and I *am* a lead foot. ;) At this point I may have blown out the carbon build up, so it's a waiting game. I have the feeling the van was babied and never got a good long distance burn... (no problem here for that)

Nice tutorial there... I have always replaced spark plug wires yearly, even when I didn't need or do a tuneup. They sure make a big difference in winter cold starts and when it's damp or rainy.

I'm not sure using the new oils is worth it in an older car, but I *RELIGIOUSLY* change the oil every 3-3500 miles. (same with our work vans) Keeping the engine clean really helps with heat problems.. A can of engine degreaser is soo cheap.

I'm going to try that air filter trick, sure makes sense.

  9. Mac, I drive for Welsh aviation, subcontracted to DHL express, my van is a '97 ford 250 with a one ton upgrade to the tires and brakes. (8 bolt wheels) It's the big 6 cyl. fuel injected, overdrive. I have never clocked the milage because it's used by me and the nite shift. The bugger has just shy of 300,000 miles on her. We are based in SW Michigan. (Kalamazoo) Home office is in Heron MI.

Now my GMC Safari is a '94 with a 4.3 L fuel injection. Maybe you can help me with a problem I am having... Seems the ERG cannister has a fault, carbon bits from the intake manifold sticks in the valve as it's closing and really mucks up low idle and vaccume assist. (including braking)

My shop said to drive the pi$$ outta it. (love that!) Even hook up a trailer and work the crap outta it, highway speed for about 100 miles.(which I did for about 50 miles and the dang thing went into bleh mode for weeks) Or I can get a new chip that stops the valve from closing on deceleration. (err, $200???)

I have been using fuel additives and (of course) driving the pi$$ outta her. But I'm not sure all the carbon deposits are cleared. She is running fine right now....

    Any ideas???

  10. All I keep saying is WOW ...... :D

You guys are doing some awesome work....

I was just wondering.... .....is there a free program you guys can recommend that I may have a look at or try to learn and play with? These are so cool what you guys are doing here... B)

Or maybe I don't have the system to run these programs to try this..... <_<

Just thought I would ask.....

Hey my man... you can also try PhotoPlus 6 freeware

And another good one with tutorials is....Pixia

I personally like PhotoPlus... so much like PhotoShop, just less options.

My desktopThe Pip, one cute kitten. BTW I only have a recycle bin icon on my desktop. (hate clutter)

  11. Actully, I don't let my man anywhere food I'm going to eat. (Although he is good at toast and picking up pizza.) It's my job and I love it, so does he. I clear the table and he tackles the kitchen in return. Works for us.
