  2. It could be it needs to re-acquire the ip address for the other laptop.. most internet ips are assigned per mac address..if you swap it out to another laptop, the mac address would change and it would be unable to connect to the net. I'm not sure how those devices work, try cycling the power while it's connected to the dell. If that still won't work, i'm not sure what the issue could be but it might be just that, and if so, it's an easy fix.
  3. Ok, well.. let's get started on a list of things to try.. it's a tough question to answer just off the top of my head, since it can be caused by so many things. 1) check your memory, bad memory will cause random crashes like that 9/10 2) check your hdd... 3) make sure your windows install cd is good... if it's retail, oem, or burned from an *.iso make sure it's not corrupted 4) what programs do you install as part of your routine re-installs..anything that monitors memory or "optimizes" windows may be the culprit.. i never recommend using any memory optimization programs..they're often more tr

I had this happen to me once before, it created an endless loop due to Office 2k7 sp1... but, basically the same idea, only difference i could get into safe mode. Since you're in such a bad position, i hope you have the windows install cd. You need to run repair mode or recovery mode, whatever it's called off the cd. It should hopefully fix your windows enough that you can log in and backup your data, though i wouldn't recommend you keep running windows if that works as is. Chances are it won't
  5. The PSU suddenly getting loud... probably just overheating, or the fan is dyin' out, not cooling fast enough so it kicks in over-time... What you can do is pay careful attention to when it starts making noise, hopefully you have thermal sensors on your board, monitor overall temperature, or simply pass your hand 'round the back of the psu feeling the exhaust... mine always blows hot but then it has two fans and it's seated right over the heatsink... Other suggestions, hmm... well, blowing out the dust in your psu was a good idea, but the issue might already be too far gone for that to help eno
