  1. I am being sneaky by munching on bite size Mounds bars and peppermint patties while the nephrologist is talking to the other dialysis patients across the room. The dietitian almost caught me twice.

Hi TT, not sure if you use your name here so I won't.

Long ago my diabetic nurse said 21 meals a week and I can cheat on one.

Wasn't that nice of her, now not even hungry for anything but this thread gives me inspiration...

  2. Funny how so many of their buildings sound like they are alcohol themed.

The Forsyth Bar building, the Guiness building.....

Hi Pete, Oh did I/we learn a lesson with Aussies coming out of the bush in Nam, nobody had a chance to drink one on one with them, beer was the preference.

Some sort of built up tolerance, haha being 128# then and Aussie were much bigger in build.

    Never saw one hurl.

I'm so troubled with the quake, maybe 300 are still buried, at least it's 73f there now, I'm at a happy 25f.

  3. EDIT: rats had this thread open in another tab and must have accidentally posted when the news of Christchurch (Marty) earthquake hit and didn't finalize my recipe.

Peking duck will be saved for another day.

40 years ago realized hanging a duck on the clothes line outside to dry was not smart, fly attack.

Inside the house using the shower rod, door locked to keep the cat out (or is that cat house haha).

I refrain from using the word secret (because I share), rather trick to separate the skin from the flesh so the 1/4" fat layer can be melted away in a hot 425f oven.

Be sure to have a drip tray.

Air compressor in the cavity worked better than the neck, your mileage could vary.

  4. Hi Keith, thanks for the post.

I have been seeing live unedited feeds coming out of Christchurch via the big dish, blooded people getting out of the city in pure panic, not sure what will be edited for others to see ?

More than 20 dead and will be many more, such devastation my friend.

I tried to go to bed early (haha 1am) not a chance to sleep seeing the fear on peoples face running.

I gotta stop watching raw feeds, but national news is all over this saying the center was only 3 miles from the city, sorry don't know the metric way in kilo , had to be very close to you.

EDIT: I should have clicked Keith's link before reply, so sad.

  5. Hi BUGSY, nice of you to from the UK to join, I have so little contact with you people, an honour as you understand the word.

Oh so long ago and far away when Tech TV joined with Comcast G4 Jeff's new site as member 25, trying hard to understand why Mike mglett (mod there) banned me after so so many years of caring.

Life goes on in different ways...

  6. Yesterday .......... I was 12 and i remember that day

Hi Chuck, thanks for the great memories so long ago and far away, seems like a lifetime ago.

How many have we been allowed for the extended visit ?

High school friends Jerry a F4 fighter pilot, Hazel a medic, JP off shore with the Navy pounding.

    Remain close friends.

12 June 71 after returning from Nam we 3 ran Pete's a beer bar when 18 y/o could drink beer but not vote.

American Pie was the biggest jute box song, punch it again please or hit cancel if a drunk miss took the numbers haha

Only "A horse with no Name" approaches a 2nd.

Now if they could only fix the Texas dome so we Packer fans can stay warm haha

    Oh Pete...

  7. Hang in there, could it get possibly worse ? Of course for the other 1/3 of the country with this blast.

Coming your way Bozo, my CNA will be here soon, has a daughter in Detroit, so will get a full report.

Hi Pete, what, you sent this storm up from the south, haha not a Canadian blast from TymeKiller.

Sunny and 17f no complaints here other than getting burned out of cheese sandwich, grilled cheese.

Pop a cork champagne bottle when the Packers bring back the trophy.

    Go Pack Go...

  8. carrot sticks. just kidding. I just wanted to balance out all the junk food. actually I wish I had some, they sound good.

Hi, thanks for the memories an un opened bag of Potato Sticks by Better Made.

Hmm what else is in the freezer because I'm hungry for nothing ?

Being a diabetic, so hard to force myself to eat and must, so hard to cook for one, takes the thrill out of life.

Still have my wok bought in Hong Kong on my way home from Vietnam (69-71), so much effort to please myself goes unused.

    Someday ?

My diabetic nurse said Marsh there are 21 meals a week and you can cheat on one.

Surprised and shocked Pete hasn't made a comment, a connoisseur of food.

  9. EDIT: sorry I didn't see Recuva from Peaches link and worked, but will leave my post untouched.

Hi Aron, hope I'm not to late seeing your thread, free of course and have had fun for years testing and playing with PC Inspector Smart Recovery 4.5

From experience it will recover almost all, my mistake to send destination to desktop and had so many to delete icons, please name a folder.

Only a few came back as lower quality.

At times even a formatted card was not able to escape me haha

Ironic my aviator is a younger photo of my cat BuckWheat, went and died on me a couple years ago, I miss him to this day.

Had his cat door to come and go, had to show me his kills, but always on the vinyl floor before total consumption (eat).

So special of 10 years of age, never forgotten...

  10. My favorite remains Smart Defrag Free of course.

Updated version Release Date: Jan. 18, 2011

EDIT: wow -> Always-on Automatic Defragment Enhanced

Smart Defrag 2 works automatically and quietly in the background, so it continually and constantly keeps your computer fragment-free. <-

Note it will go to the task bar for a start up entry and defrag in 2 weeks auto unless you change it's settings for your needs.

So fast to defrag, never has conflicted with Windows unlike others software's in their methods of arrangement.

I've used it for many years, never will I leave home without it (joke) , tho with this SSD no need to defrag and recommended not to run any.

Helping others on location, a mere few minutes un like the built in M$ tool, that always takes hours, form your own opinion.

    You have nothing to lose...

  11. I do not recommend leaving the laptop plugged in and powered off if the battery is fully charged.

Hi Pete, could this be the 1st time to ever disagree with you my friend ?

All my laptops have been on charge almost 24/7, mostly desktop replacements, occasional war drive's on the cig/pipe lighter.

Ni/Cad is a bird of a different feather, great for maintaining the high voltage level before the voltage drop off curve takes a deep dive.

Example 20 years ago as a ham with ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) said to another ham/pilot, I topped off my battery packs, the memory effect, admitted he did the same and of course broke the rule but critical to maintain ground contact in the CAP (Civil Air Patrol) plane, searching for lost soul later found 2,000 miles away, but we tried.

Lead-acid as in vehicles demands a trickle to maintain a charge and loves it for years.

NiMH (nickel-metal hydride) remains a favorite for return on the money, discharge/recharge a thousand times, loves a top off anytime.

Shelf life (longevity to maintain a charge) is amazing.

    Now comes lithium-ion, my favorite

Built into each pack, the protection circuit limits the peak voltage of each cell during charge and prevents the cell voltage from dropping too low on discharge

My laptops fail long before the battery does, IE a Toshiba from 7 years ago $2,200 still maintains a charge tho the GPU is gone.

Not a guess what the future holds with battery transportation cars.

Hi Steve, you understand well with experience...

  12. Great Value from (Walmart) diet koolaide & Vodka and Polar Herring Fillets in hot tomato sauce for the eye opener.

Later (all week project) leftovers from my tailgate party, Go Pack Go, us/many to visit Pete Dallas Super Bowl Dome.

Later all week long cheese and crackers with a side of sausage.

    More than one cig.

    Packers all the way

  13. Sometimes I get up on Monday morning, and the next thing I know it's Thursday night.

Hi Chuck, oh how I understand Bozo gets embarrassing to go out for a fish fry and learn it's not Friday.

Never will I recommend retirement to anybody, took away my drive and made me lazy.

Retired 8 years ago at age 54 was really too young but when the VA gave me the full 100% service connected disability, how could I turn it down ?

Now the state of Wisconsin pays my personal property tax (home) on a rare occasion pay sales tax almost makes me feel guilty haha

Of course no concern with health care having the best with the VA, or a concern for taxes, let the politicians find their own way home.

Otherwise parents bought the coin machine business in 1956 so as a kid had pinball's and jute boxes in my bedroom, pool tables in the basement.

Electronics has been in my blood for a lifetime, electronic tech grad before Vietnam took me away for 2 years, made the best of it the Gov paying for correspondent course's to achieve Broadcast Engineer, just another piece of paper on the wall, burnt long ago in a bonfire.

A pioneer along with Charlie (CEO Dish Network) 1984 in the big dish to provide more channels than the two local networks.

His 1st was $25,000, I got it down to $17,900 with a small profit, imagine that.

What does the future hold in progression is beyond my guess's.

No reversal of the G4 ban, really starting to not care about them anymore, PM me here if I don't have your e-mail ?

  14. Hi shanenin, tho I don't know you yet, agreed the yellow pages.

I needed a new beauty parlor (haircut for a male) and used the yellow pages to find a replacement for my unanswered calls to my long used one.

They failed in a big way, not even a phone recorder.

To meet a new g/f , she understood, after lunch followed me there and to return last weekend was more than worth the effort.

Otherwise I'm deep country 10 miles to Tomahawk or 14 to Rhinelander, doubtful they have any web sites.

Paper spam gets returned when others send them and will be ignored and sent back with a self addressed paid postage envelope.

External fliers are not allowed in my mailbox, so whatever is in the weekly newspaper, I burn in a bonfire at times...

  15. Oh and I also plugged the new router in with an extension cord to another outlet. But the printer would still throw it out even when the printer was off.

So I moved the new router back onto my desk away from the Printer and haven't had a problem since

My Cell phone causes the speakers to make noises when I put it on my desk also.

Hi, nice you found the answer, it's called RFI (Radio Frequency Interference), hope others will learn from your experience.

No need to explain why it happens other than overdrive of the front end (1st) stage tank circuit/oscillator, a lifetime story otherwise.

Lexmark X5070 fails with interference suppression, distance is/was the answer...

  16. Last year my S.O. I ended up buying the 2009 model new in box for 1599.00. And it is the 8000

Hi Joe, hope you give us a test report.

Off to Google whatever a S.O. is not a clue right now., but that's understandable for me haha

Took the trash out today/tonight, 2012 we will finish the job...

  17. Hi Peaches , good one, amazing the simple answer is likely to be the best.

I've worked with so many shrinks since Vietnam, truly enjoyed playing with "their" minds.

Such a waste of my time and theirs, I'm all done with the mind games will remain in the distant past, forever...

  18. Hi Peaches, I remain in awe the power of the internet, has nothing to do with the thread tho.

4 time poster and next day a 1st timer suggests something to me ?

I do have experience on that road.

  19. Hi marsh.

Yeah I heard that your storm was equivalent to one of our weak hurricanes (cat I)

Hi Pete, such a rare occasion for us, not sure but definitely set a new record of some sort.

We are tree cutters, planting more than we harvest, why not drop the one's near overhead power lines escapes me.

UPS, 3 of them allowed me 4 hours of the internet to run the modems Hughes and Wild Blue total $168 monthly, imagine that.

WiFi routers and battery 2 laptops, Gary (IL_wiccan) taught me well with all the candles still on the kitchen counter were lit.

Gas range/stove kept me warm enough.

Hi bozodog, guess we failed the test to pass it on haha

  20. Watched but did not turn on speakers

Hi Pete, you should have because the sound separation on a laptop is of awesome quality.

A little Cat Nip goes a long ways.

Gives me the opportunity to again mention where I can't elsewhere anymore, free You Tube Downloader...My link

EDIT: not a clue how to change my link haha But it is safe to click, trust me.

Incredible all the other supported sites recorded not covered by my paid software's...

  21. Real nice work Mandy, saving as PNG was the right choice in my opinion. You can zoom way in with no distortion.

Exactly, each and every time a J Peg is opened and closed there is a resolution loss, facts of life, every time viewing.

Just looking at one, with no modifications even, opening and closing a JPEG, sooner or later will haunt you...

TIFF is also good for saving the lifetime photos.

Nice 2.14MB without pix elating, stunning job.

Hi bozodog, I've been known to say, as long of one of us knows how, well beyond my learning curve also.

Tho a wicked wind storm we sent you , lost power/water for 34 hours, imagine that haha

  22. Hi Marty, hang in there.

Your 1st one you ran outside in the cold weather in long johns haha

Must be close to spring now for you, cold South Pole winds.

As much as I have CNN and Fox on, never say any mention of another aftershock.

Your 1st was prime time news...
