hi team thanks for posting, but i found the answer from a neighbor
who was surfing.and some how got into to driver signing.and in the box which said
block.never install unsigned software.
i tried 2-3 modems and got the message the software wouldnt be installed.
so we un checked it.and you guessed it. all of those modems will work now.
so obviously lucent isnt signed software, compatable with microsoft.
so if any one has the same problems.just check that.signed tab and make sure. dont know why it was in the blocked area.i have a feeling it was the result of installin sp2
thanks team

now that the other browsers are becomming on stream.
so are the problems experinced by IE.in particular fire fox e.c.t
ive just come from 2 other boards and already.and 7 in all posts on popups problems in fire fox.the popup blocker is being exploited.
so the flak the other browser users give us ie users.are starting to to get the problems.as it becomes more popular.i remeber pete said this would happen .
he said he used it at the time because not many people were useing it so it remained untouched.so now is the time to go to another browser .not so popular
to stop those popups .at one time pete was using 7 browsers on his sys
so he could surf between them.
so good luck all those fox users .and come and join us.

recently i made up a p2 and it was going fine until the modem crapped out .
i had a couple given to me one a lucent
so i installed it and the sys recognises it through plug and play .
and the sys installed the driver .im derned if i can get it to dial up.my Q
do i need to go to the lucent website and get a driver. i think lucent has changed its name .
or is the driver installed by windows ok
at first it said no dial tone .
but now it says the user name and password is not recognised by the sys
the user name i used is the same as i use on my p4 .so am i not able to use the same password and user name on 2 different machines.

hey Marty, this happened to me a couple of years ago after I downloaded a pop-up blocking program. Everytime I used the scroll wheel the scrolling would go up and down uncontrollably. It didn't happen when I used the up and down arrows. I just got rid of the pop-up blocker and the problem ended.
Bryan
you could be right i just reinstalled CCleaner
and tho it is a good program it may be the culprit
i havent heard of any having a problem like this before.
i have a a genuis optical mouse ive been to the device manager and checked the driver it may not happen again
a line was going backward and forward in the address bar.i couldnt even use ctrl alt and delete.which wouldnt work.so i had to turn the power switch at the back of the compt.it had me worried .
but when i restarted all was well strang things these compts

just a note if any ones uses the web scan from trend micro.
it will ask you to to install sun java .
as i didnt need sun java i had to go to internet options -advanced .and uncheck all micro java options.and it allowed me to scan under the old sys.which ive done
this must have come with.sp2 tho remember pete telling us to un check all those java boxes
thats why i rememberd to go in there.
as it turned out my sys was clean thought id post this because at first i was abit confused as to what to do.but yo dont need to use sun java to scan

he team some thing really strange happened to me to night.
i was reading the suggestions board and when i started to scroll down the thread all of a sudden the scroll went mad and started to roll up and down .when i tried to scroll up the board it rolled back to the bottom .i had just scanned with my virus scanner and it found nothing .to stop it i shut my machine down and it is ok now
either i have a ghost in there or a gremlin.has this happened to any one else.
im just going to scan with house call to make doubly sure and scan with my spyware scanner.so i will get back later

im not sure if any ones knows a poster called BURT STARK at g4 pmed me and said.
i know you dont like leo.but there isnt need to make false staements about him blocking techtv being beamed to your area.
but he is wrong i liked leo and i defended him as far as a presenter goes.some times he went over the top. BUT I ONLY REPEATED THE NOTICE MY COMMUICATION COMPANY SENT ME.
there are 80.000 customers who deal with this company .and we paid for the program but the fee wasnt deducted.
so we all complained .im going to post the message i sent to BURT SRARK
you better make sure of your facts before you start flaming me.your post i sent to my comuInCations company.
the program was cut off before we got notice.
and they had to respond to the customers complaints .
we paid for the chanel coverage and it wasnt refunded .
wouldnt you complain.
if some individual blocked the coverage.
which telstra wouldnt disclose .when i saw petes post.
i recalled the notice telstra sent to all its 80.000m customers
some individual blocked
and they are investigating it
why are you so angry.
do you want petes job

hi ghorjus
check your monitor v card and make sure they are secure
this happened to me i couldnt get a screen.
so i checked the cables and found a small pin on the video card end was slighlty bent and wasnt making a proper connection so i straightened it and reconnected and i got a screen .if this is the trouble make sure you are careful
those wee pins are brittle and break easly.i used a tiny tube.and straightened it that way but be careful
good luck

------------------------------------------------------------------------
HKTL_JPGDOWN.A is a non-destructive hack tool that creates a JPEG file
(detected by Trend Micro as EXPL_JPGDOWN.A), which exploits a
vulnerability in Windows XP. This buffer overrun vulnerability in the processing of
JPEG image formats may allow a remote user to execute code on an affected
system. If a user is logged in with administrator privileges, this
vulnerability allows an attacker to take complete control of affected system, and
perform actions such as installing programs, viewing, changing or deleting
data, and creating new accounts with full privileges. This malware is
currently spreading in–the-wild, infecting computer systems that are running
Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, and XP.
Upon execution, this hack tool displays a dialogue box titled is
displayed, and the buttons “Make†and “Aboutâ€. The Trojan dropped by this
hack tool, attempts to download and execute files from any URL that a
malicious user inputs in the dialogue box.
This hack tool also drops the file MYPICTURE.JPG in the current
folder. After execution of this hack tool, the following message is displayed:
"The Jpeg Server, has been created with your settings in the current
directory."
The following strings can be found in the malware body:
JPEG Downloader V1.0
With this downloader you can create downloader server with *.jpg
extension.

thanks robroy
i read a post from one of the, the peole who is against pete.it was a link he posyed .it seems pete critisized leo because he feels leo had the option to keep c.f.h going.because leo had the patents rights to the program.but leo wouldnt do that with out some sort of concession
.and of course leo is entitled to do that under the law.
the people who want to get rid of pete are fans of leos.
i was a fan of leos.but i didnt know he was the cause of us losing c.f.h
so he ha gone down in my estemation.ive never been to leos message board.
and i support pete he dosent say things without some legit reason.
pity .leos used to do a good job.
but it looks as tho greed has taken over

just come from g4 and there is a patition on the board.
it seems a group is trying to get rid of pete_c
and some of the regulars are having a sign on to keep pete on
some one posted several links for the reason.
i havent gone into them yet has any one seen this patition and the reasons for it.
i dont go there often so i seem to be behind the eight ball.
