fubz
I just bought a new battery for my laptop since the old one was dead, and when I put it in the laptops boots up and all. But the computer thinks it is still running off the outlet and not the battery.... It's a gateway 400vtxWhy would this happen?
xxkbxx
Does it affect performance at all? Or does is the power profile just differenet?

It's a gateway 400vtxWhy would this happen?Sounds like it is an aftermarket replacement which does not include all the circuitry for monitoring etc that the original did. Thus although it is there and working; it does not show up to the software used for battery monitoring.Does it work okay when you unplug from the wall and run off the battery other than indicating that it is on wall current ? If so , you may have to live with this minor inconvenience.
fubz
Will it still charge? I do belive it is an aftermarket, and I dont mind at all if it doesnt display, I just want it to be able charge the battery. After that, i could care less, i can do the power management on my own.And yes it runs without being plugged into the wall Edited September 8, 2006 by fubz
