just2good4u3434
How do I get RUN back on my start menu because mine disappeared?
TheTerrorist_75
Run command is missing from the Start menu.+ Right-click the Taskbar and select Properties. + Select Start Menu. + Click on Customize. + Click on Advanced. + Look for a check box for Run command in the option window. Check the box.

handplane
From Kelley's Korner:Run Command MissingRight click the Start button and select Properties, then Customize. Scroll down and put the check mark in the Show Run entry. If you're using the new Start panel, its on the Advanced tab.Or check your settings here: Start/Run/RegeditHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ExplorerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ExplorerValue Name: NoRunData Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)Value Data: (0 = disabled, 1 = enabled)Note: It seems that under "XP Theme", not more than eleven (11) items can be displayed together at the right-hand column (with blue background), which at times, disables/removes the Run Command even with it being checked. medab1
Value Name: NoRunData Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)Value Data: (0 = disabled, 1 = enabled)I saw this & tested it.I changed the value to 1 in the dword.I restarted.RUN was gone.I changed it back to 0.I had to reboot twice. After the first reboot the value was still 1.I changed it to 0 again.I rebooted.RUN was back.I checked the value & it was set at 0.Therefore I suspect the correct value for the dword is 0. shanenin
the question I am wondering is why it disapeared to begin with? Did some program or virus change the registry?
medab1
You can press the Windows key and the letter R and the RUN window will pop up ready to use.
TheTerrorist_75
Usually this is caused by a virus/trojan on your system. I would download, update and scan with Ewido then save the log generated and post it with a HijackThis log here Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs. Read the directions before posting a HJT log. just2good4u3434
Im pretty sure it was caused by a trojan, I just ran NOD32 a couple days ago and it picked up some, I'll post a HJT now
