xxkbxx
Wouldn't be the first time the news exaggerated somethingAnybody see the girl on the Today Show several months ago? She was covering floods (out midwest, I think) and she was in a canoe. During the intro, two guys walked right in front of her, in ankle deep water. I'm sure it's online somewhere

That is bad ...I was gonna go to Nashville about that time but my Guitar Tech was out of town for most of this month...I am going your way around the end of this month or early May onto another new adventure in my Wayward Travels... blim
Ugh, tornadoes! Been through one and never want to experience that again! And Marty, in Spring, the weather is always wacky in the US, not unusual for colorful radar shots. In Michigan, it can be sunny and 65 degrees one day and snowing the next (*Liz does the "anti-snow dance"*)Liz
TheTerrorist_75
I think you're getting delayed broadcasts Marty. The major storms hit a few days previous. We are at that time of year when bad storms crop up quickly. Today is a teaser for me. It started out nice and warm this morning/early afternoon, but it is now raining with strong winds. At least I got the push mower tuned up and running nice. In the spring I prefer using that over the rider.

TheTerrorist_75
a rider lucky devil i have a school boy to do mine for his pocket money.tho mine is a push motor mower.martyI'm not lucky with this piece of crap rider. Dear old dad bought it off his friend who needed money for the casino. He paid $500 for it and has sunk another $400 into it. After the last fiasco with the repair shop it has now come down to me to fix it. This rider was sold at Agway about 15-20 years ago. Finding parts is almost impossible. The fool thing isn't even worth $150. I need to replace the base gasket, rebuild the mower/blower deck supports, replace the blade spindles and bearings plus the blades, replace all of the belts and many more small but necessary items. I have cussed out the old man, his friend and this rider for 2 years now. I keep telling the old man it is far easier and quicker for me to mow our lawns and shovel our driveways/walks using my push mower and shovels. Not only that I get beneficial exercise my way. xxkbxx
I always push mow the front (to make it look nicer and because of hills) and ride the back. I also push mow a friend's yard about weekly this time of year - last sunday I blew all their leaves out of their yard into the woods - which took 2 hours because he didn't rake leaves any throughout fall. It's good money thoughOn a random note - my neighborhood, or at least the social people on the street, has a "lawnmower race/social event" around Labor Day each year, and I do believe I will be putting green LED's under the front deck of the John Deere mower. (I bet you'd find it suprising that I'm putting LED's on something random, as usual!)
Honda_Boy
ya know my dad never made me mow much. I always end up doin the edgin' instead.
blim
My first job was mowing my Grandparent's Summer place--big front yard, big bumpy, mole hole ridden back yard, guest house (small back yard but big front yard) and around the tennis courts--with a push mower. Wouldn't know how big the whole "schmeal" was, but it took about 6 hours, $5. Ugh. I've always appreciated all my other jobs after that!Terrorist, you must have gotten our rain, if the prevailing wind thing is working right. Yesterday it was sunny, warm but the wind blew you away, then rained last night and it's been gloomy all day today. But it's warm, I'm not complaining! Remember last April when there was still snow on the ground?Liz

I used to earn $35 a week working on a muck when I was 14 during the summer.Yeah, I remember bean picking or hay bale loading (and other similar farm labor jobs) which paid 25cents an hour plus peice rate or $1 an hour if you could meet the minimum standard harvesting speed. Not much money and a lot of work. But as a kid it seemed like a lot at the time (Well, gas was 25 cents a gallon, and an ice cream cone single scoop was too.)No storms here recently; they all stay north of the Oklahoma border since the big flooding rains. Getting pretty dry here; but beautiful weather. Predicted high today is 88-90 . Supposedly only 78 out now with 61% humidity , but it sure feels hotter than that. Got a sunburn (mild) on my back through my Tshirt working on the roof a couple days ago in just a couple hours. Looks like it will be marvelous weather for Easter weekend; time for more cookouts. What a cushy job!!!I remember working in fields so far from the toilets that it took all your break time (one midmorning one late afternoon, half hour lunch) just to walk there and get back to your row before the section boss started docking you! Can't remember how much we earned, just enough to help put food on the family table. Yes gas was around a quarter unless a gas war was going on. Of course that included our free drinking glasses or whatever else the full service station was giving out at the time.A cold front storm system moving in tonight, rain for the next few days here, but one to two feet of snow in mountains. As for storms Marty, you might have seen info on the heavy rains that Northern California has been hit hard with. I think I heard that 7 counties were declared disastor areas by Gov Arnold Schwartznegger (did I even come close to spelling his name right?) In fact they have had severe rains most of winter I think, with lots of flooding, mudslides etc.PatGod bless everyone.
