TheTrueDarkOne
Im quite aware of it not being a windows file (Sry if i didnt make it clear) and its winkernal32.exe (not kernal32.exe) I couldn't find anything on google, and was wondering if there was a fix, or if he should go get it clean installed and have all his files backed up for $50 (My friend will do it for 50% off b/c he works at circuit city)'José
shanenin
before I would pay someone $50, I would buy an OEM copy of xp for $90. You could use that disc to reinstall you current installation. Second you could also use the key that came with it(OEM xp disc) to install a second installation. Thirdly, you would be set in the future if you needed to reinstall again.but... reinstalling may not be nessesary. Edited April 7, 2006 by shanenin

Matt
Along with the possible worm that this file may be, you are most likely also infected with the rdriv.sys rootkit. I highly reccomend that you post a HJT log in the Malware Removal section of the forums.

shanenin
I went and got the OEM disc and then just re-installed Thanks for your helpjust curious, when you reinstalled, did you use the key on your case, or the new key that came with th cd? For a reinstall you definately just should use the key that came with the computer.
