New To Linux

OS: Windows XP Home SP2

Processor: Intel 4 CPU 2.80GHz

L2 Cache: 512 KB

Memory: 1024 MB

Video Card: Intel 82865G Graphics Controller

I am running Windows XP Pro/Server 2003/ and Beta Testing Vista all in Virtual PC

I got a CD from a friend its NLD V9 he said it had Linux Ghnome and KDE on it i am wondering if this is a good starter to learn Linux

ah... sure

I always suggest people built it first.. but it depends on your meaning of the word learn,

learn how to use apps (not really linux) any distrobution..

learn how Novel does linux (SUSE or what you have)

learn how linux works form boot to operation (gentoo, linux from scratch, slackware)

linux does not run well in virtual PC (its not a real virtual IMHO, no 100% bios emulation)

vmware player (free) or vmwre esx (nwo free) will do a better job if you are going to try from a VM.

also play with BSD and see the simularitys and diffrences between it and Linux..
