hi all i have this spare hdd

that used to have win98

and as a result

is formatted in fat32

i intend to use it as a spare or a slave.

my sys

which is running winxp in

ntfs.

is there some way i can convert this drive

to ntfs.

ive had it hooked to my compt to try and format it

but it takes me to safe mode

god ime getting my self confued

right click my computer ->> manage pc ->> disk management

right click partition and select convert

hi team these posts isnt quite the answer ineed

my problem is when i install this hdd

to my sys

my compt goes to safe mode

and no matter what i do

it reverts to safe mode

so some how i need to convert the hdd

before i install it

or unhook my xp drive

and install the slave then fdisk and format it

is this possable

on an xp sys

and can i get a floppy

to do this .

If it is booting to Safe Mode when it is installed the cause is not because it isn't formatted in NTFS or FAT. The problem is either the jumper is set incorrectly, the drive is not in the middle of the cable, the cable or hard drive is bad, weak power supply or the cable or power connection is bad/loose.
