Rootkit

i hope i posted this in the right forum. a while back a friend sent me to a site that crashed my pc and when my pc rebooted winprotral said rootkit detected so i denied it access. so I'm wondering if that is why programs and pc runs slow i have run a rootkit detector but it picked nothing up

ps any advice or help will be greatly appreciated its been a while like when i first got this computer

Microsoft windows update, malicious software removal tool will remove the sony rootkit.

Fsecure blacklight

Will remove most other common ones.

Let me throw in a guess here. I think op might have meant, but misspelled it, WinPatrol. Here is a link for you. Marsh_Ox used to recommend it and some other folks too.
