And The Patriot Act..... it seem that USA is losing Democracy, everything what people believe in and stand for. Made me wish i want to live in Assuy or Britian, or Scandinavian country. it really losing. Bush already ordered NSA to spy on us. Bill of Rights, the Constitution that we used is gone. I thought Bush is a Republican and followed the Constitution. Look like the Constitution is gone, everything that we hope that Constitution will protect us, but seem to failed.

I believe in Democracy but more rather of The People. I believe that The People can govern the entire US, The People will listen to our voice, and listen of what we need, and help us. that way, we wont be left out. The People is us...... that the way i believe

There is more i can say but this is enough

Please no flaming in this thread, im just expressing my feeling toward of what happening since past 5 years. I just want a non-vagual discussion about this

I think Bush will go down as The Worst U.S. President in History* myself....

No help with Oil Prices or taking care of the needs of his country, like employment & the economy...

Seems his agenda is other countries in the world and not his own... (not saying they can't use our help but We Need Help Right Now)..

I tried to steer well clear of my opinions of politics and religion when I was at TechTV and G4TV forums; but now do not feel any such compunction.

For many years (decades) now I have noticed the signs of creeping Facisim and the slow and steady erosion of our rights of privacy and due process and the seperation of church and state ; all in the name of making us safe from something.

All too often an event which makes the news and grabs the nations attention is used to add ever more onerous legislation, often totally unrelated to the problem ; as opposed to just applying existing laws or fixing them if they are inadequate.

Increasingly I have noticed a partisan rivalry where what is best for the country and what is right no longer matters; where it is more important to oppose the other guy whether he is right or wrong and to stick to the party line whether it is right or wrong. To make matters worse, one party has ineffectual leadership and no direction while the other has been seized by radicals who allow a relatively small group of individuals to mandate an "agenda" which others must follow or they are ostracised. Increasingly speaking out against the dogma is not tolerated, reminiscent of the inquisition and a religious organization.

All we can do folks is VOTE our hearts. Remember, less than half of Americans vote.

I still believe in our system. Sure there are some things that need to be fixed. But more intitlements and give aways is not the answer.

"creeping Facisim"? I agree. We don't need more laws, we need the ones on the books enforced.

"creeping Socialism"? Now that's what I see as the biggest problem.

Corrupt, life time, politicians using the power they have built up over many many years... Term limits should be #1 on the agenta.

For instance, Tom Daschle. One of the most powerful members in Washington. From a state with fewer people than one of our great cities. What's wrong with that picture?

Line item veto.... The only way to get a "good" bill through without all the "favors" and pork.

Will we ever see this in my lifetime? I don't think so. God help our offspring.

Many people already know Bush is awful. many middle and poor classes already know because he made a huge mistake on tax cut for riches only.

I remember i read Yahoo news about that Bush is the worst President of the USA and his father is close too

And one of the most important Amendment, 1st Amendment is getting more censorship outside of the courthouse. The school, the goverenment, the CIA, everything. they ignore the most important rule and violated it. There not many people aware but we need to make them aware and redesign the 1st Amendment to make the rest of the level to not to censor the free speech at all.

This government we had for 300 years, already turning into non-republican and non-democracy, everything we believe for. Even the rest of the countries use our democracy but they didnt know that we are not using democracy, well not much a use of it. i just wish to form a new government to protect ourselves. And the power need to be limit with the President. the more power will goes to the people. there already signs of rebellion. there is protests, strike, and many thing that people screaming for help, but it been silenced

I was raised to believe what i know and use those to protect me. I was raised that Woman and Man is always equals, but not fair with paycheck. i always hoping that i want to see one woman to become a president, but will that happen?

Eh, I think you're all wrong. The Patriot act doesn't do much of anything that other law enforcement didn't already have the authority to do, and it has to be renewed continually.

The Other Side's view of the Patriot Act -- List of Articles and columns at Townhall COM

As for Bush being "bad" I don't see it at all, though if I were as hysterical as some people seem to get over even the mention of Bush, I might.

It’s funny how people jump up and down screaming at the government for being unfair, suppressive and just downright sneaky, yet when the polling places open up, there’s no one there to participate in the election process to effect change. People yell about the changes needed but don’t work to make them happen. They scream about the negative side of government but are the first to put out their hands for help when they need it. People want all the benefits from government but don’t want to put forth any effort into making positive changes to it.

If you are going to demand that the government take care of you and protect your family, shouldn’t they have a say in how they will do it? Does the government and law enforcement want to keep an eye and hear on suspected threats to the safety of the citizens, who are demanding it? Who on this forum has had their liberties stomped on by the big bad federal government? What exactly has been done to you personally that has had a direct impact on your personal life? Are you caught up in the paranoia that has become popular and fashionable? Do you have something to hide? The government didn’t cause 911, yet they were held financially responsible by the victims and their families and have been blamed for not doing all they could have to prevent it. The government didn’t cause Katrina yet a lot of people who did not insure their houses want the government to rebuild them. How many people will end up in a better position in life as a result of the federal dollars that will flow into the area? Will you be anxious to pay more taxes to support the effort in the future? Or will you just want to put your hand out and expect someone else to foot the bill?

When people are asked to vote for tax increases to improve their schools or local infrastructure, they won’t vote for them. When asked to donate their time to worthwhile civic projects, they don’t have time. When asked to take responsibility for raising their own children, that’s out of bounds and is left up to the school system, church, or others. But, when people want something from the local, county, state, or federal government, out goes the hand or list of demands.

I guess I could go on and on but hey, you probably don’t want to hear any more of my ramblings/opinions. In the future, don’t get excited and upset about what’s happening in America. Go do something to change it. Join a positive cause and work your ass off to make things happen. Be a change agent or at least save up and get that one way ticket to the country that will meets your needs for the future. But, don’t look for utopia, no one flies there.

Sethook, i do want to hear your opinion, and i respect them, i dont scream for the government to help me or my family. i just want them to do something better instead of taking of abusive order from the President.

the problem is that the People of USA dont see of what happening, they depends on tv ads of telling them what or not to vote. something some ads are tricky in some way and trick them to vote it. they just dont read the info of what act or amendment that the people want to add. they just dont want to join the discussion of what happening and what to improve the government. they just let the government to control people lives. i just want the people stop being so lazy (not you guys, you good) and step up and say something what in your mind. i want people to stop and look of what happening, USA is soo young and need teaching to learn any mistake of what happening in the world.

Look our economy, it starting to fail but very slowly. many people tired of tax increasing. the gas price, the oil and everything. the water, the energy. If we have U.N. permission to enter the war then that will be great because UN will support us and pay for the damage but Bush went without UN permission and forced us to pay everything of what happenig in Iraq, that the reason why our economy is failing. Sure we have support from British but it not enough.

Since 9/11, our economy took a steep fall but back up and now war, then it falling. it make thing worse as i viewed it. my parent been complaining about wasting water and gas because it already went up again. and Since 9/11, some order that violated the law and spy on us of seeing what happening, what are we doing, are we planning to do something? it stupid.

I have read what everyone has said. and I agree with a lot of it. There are some things that people are missing though. so I will try to outline them here a little bit.

Gas/oil prices,

FCC is currently investigating the oil cartels on price gouging. The problem is that they are dragging their feet. my theory on this is not because of the Bush Admin, or Congress, but because of the far left wing environmentalist, like Greenpeace, that would be happy to see the country collapse, just to say "see we have made out point, now it costs so much to fill up your car, that you are now walking to work, or riding a bike. The oil companies have stopped drilling, which will save the environment, animals, will reduce cancer, save the world."

isn't funny they are so worried about stopping oil drilling, and yet they use these big gas hog SUV's like expiditions to go anywhere, or they will rent out a huge oil guzzling Diesel boat to stage a protest next to a oil drilling rig. Where is the sense in their theory???

War in Iraq,

just last month Congress put up for vote whether or not to pull our troops out of Iraq starting this month. obviously the country responded, quite a few of the congress members went out to their constituents and asked what way they should vote.

The vote was a landslide, by both the Republican and Democratic party.

403 voted to stay in Iraq

3 voted to remove our troops from Iraq.

so really, based on the fact that congress voted this way, can we really blame Bush for staying in Iraq? the answer is a resounding NO. Bush had no decision on this vote, nor did he have any control in this vote. Some democrats say that the republicans drew up this act as a political stunt, but if that is the case, then why was the vote such a landslide like it was??

I fully agree if our Founding Fathers, those who originally started the fight with England for independence, saw the state our country is in they would turn over in their graves.

I vote every time. I vote with my heart. I research the information that both parties give before voting. This is something all voters need to do. Better informed voters produce better results. however the problem is unless you have a boatload of money to make a statement in congress with, your voice won't be heard. I'm a firm believer in "For the People, by the People" but in all seriousness it is now a case of "for the people, by the people with lots of money." that doesn't mean I won't do my part when voting, but I know that for the most part, Congress will only listen to the ones that are slipping thousands of dollars into their pockets. Or they will only listen to the Lobbyists who have gotten the money together by drives to line the congress peoples pockets.

Eitehr way you look at it, I feel that the government, on both the state and federal level, have left the true people, who should have the power to decide what gets done, out in the cold. Either they don't want to hear us, or they don't care. But only we can show them we do have a voice, and we do control what they do. If you don't like the way the government is handling things, then get out and vote those who speak for you out of office. strip them of their power and make them realize they dont' make the decisions, you do.

hitest, you know this is a nice community and why should anyone flame the thread if they ask not to flame it, unless if it a newbie then that different :)

I agree, this is an excellent community, the best on the Internet! :D

I think political threads are fine if people don't become upset with each other. :D

After careful consideration by the Besttechie Staff, we have decided that this topic will be closed. As of this point no further political or Religious topics will be allowed at the Besttechie Forums to prevent further issues.

Hi Everyone,

The decision made to close the thread was not because this thread was getting out of control. It was the fact that, myself and the BestTechie Staff decided it was the best thing to do. For a while I have been thinking about not allowing religious or political threads, but then with the forum issue, school, etc. I never got around to bringing that up. So it kind of faded, until I saw this thread. Our community here is great and I think the best on the net, I just don't want to see things crumble from one thread. So from now on, no religious or political threads.

Thank you for understanding B)
