recently i made up a p2 and it was going fine until the modem crapped out .

i had a couple given to me one a lucent

so i installed it and the sys recognises it through plug and play .

and the sys installed the driver .im derned if i can get it to dial up.my Q

do i need to go to the lucent website and get a driver. i think lucent has changed its name .

or is the driver installed by windows ok

at first it said no dial tone .

but now it says the user name and password is not recognised by the sys

the user name i used is the same as i use on my p4 .so am i not able to use the same password and user name on 2 different machines.

Do you mean user name and password not recognized by your iSP? The SYS don't know from names and passwords for the modem.... You can use the same name and password on any number of machines. Make sure the cap lock isn't set, and post back... (try a different keyboard)

You're not trying to connect both to the Internet at the same time are you. You can only use one PC at a time unless they are networked. If one PC is connected and you try to go online with the other then that PC will not be recognized if they are not networked.

hi team thanks for posting, but i found the answer from a neighbor

who was surfing.and some how got into to driver signing.and in the box which said

block.never install unsigned software.

i tried 2-3 modems and got the message the software wouldnt be installed.

so we un checked it.and you guessed it. all of those modems will work now.

so obviously lucent isnt signed software, compatable with microsoft.

so if any one has the same problems.just check that.signed tab and make sure. dont know why it was in the blocked area.i have a feeling it was the result of installin sp2

thanks team

marty
