Chappy acted correctly in that he warned us as a true friend and concerned long time member. I have to believe he pulled a Paul Revere deal and warned us of a very real threat arriving. It would not surprise me that the following scenario is factual. G4 has always pulled off it's surprises as the weekend approached. These changes usually arrived on a Friday evening when the admins and mods were taking off for their weekend relaxation. This allowed for a seventy two hour panic period in which the members would bemoan the change and vent their frustrations. After this powerful outburst the admins would come back and inform the mods that they need to let the people continue to release their anger for a week or two before cooling them off. Now to what I believe was to be. I do think Tech Support was going to be eliminated and the other changes made on Friday night. After we had ran our usual course of raging against the machine for the specified period G4 and Leo would have made the coordinated announcement that Call For Help was returning. In doing this they would have performed what they thought would have been a brilliant marketing coup. This would have enabled the Call For Help forum to be for show and tech discussion only. This seems to be what was wanted but the release of the information to the Maintenance Board was premature. That to me was a grave administrative error.This brings me to the conclusion that neither Chappy, Pete nor any of us were wrong in our reactions. The admins need to take the deserved blame and should apologize not only to us, but to their own moderation team that was dragged into this due to their not being upfront with them. Actually, I would wager my life's earnings that no apology will take place.Yesterday, I created a new G4 account, so that I could get an explanation as to why I was banned, as it is supposed to be policy that I receive some type of notification (email or pm). I received a nice long confrontational message from MissFae, as well as an additional week to my ban for creating an alternate account. They're running some sort of tight ship over there.That message from MissFae was the final kick in the pants I needed to not return to that site. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

TheTerrorist_75 Posted August 19, 2005 Author Report Share Posted August 19, 2005 I was banned for posting Chappy's post from here that contained what was posted at the Maintainence Board and the new rules. I also got banned for swearing at Kev50027(?) after the language restriction was lifted (using a second account of course). It seems the mods weren't notified that the members could use previously banned words. I was told the ban for for a week. I am not positive on that though. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

The Terrorist's explanation fits with the type of sleazy corporate behaviour that happens these days. JSBowen, what did you say that might have gotten you banned. That TT_75 got banned doesn't come as a surpprise at all lol. I suppose she is angry but her comments sure aren't making her look like a hero (she told someone to kiss her rearend, not professional mod behavior in my opinion) OK, my naughty side is coming out. IMHO that was a stupid decision to allow that type of posting to happen.
