Pete_C
I would think that after the first quake people would have gone all California and secured things like computers, tvs, shelving.Hell , we don't have real quakes in Texas and I still have the shelving in my pantry bolted to the walls. (And my computer is secured in a shelving unit that is also secured, and the TV in an entertainment center screwed to the wall. ) Maybe I just fear having things fall on me. martymas
Oh man, I'm sorry to hear things are tough for you now, marty! Our thoughts are with you.my theory of earthquakesdo you believe earthquakes are caused when the full moon is closesto earththis happened lat to timesthe shakes came as the moon was coming to its fullest \then when it was on the way back the shakes became less and lessuntil the next three months when it came closer to earth againthis has always bin my theorythe quakes were at it highest just before fullit is now on the way down and we havent had a noticeable one for several hrsyesterday and last night they were coming in swarmsdo you agree or do you think ime moon struck, marty
KeithLDick
Glad your okay Marty.... I hope the quakes stop and leave you alone...
JDoors
... do you agree or do you think ime moon struck, martyMoonstruck. A full moon only means the sun is shining on the moon from a particular angle. The moon is unchanged. It's distance from the earth is unchanged. It's gravitational attraction is unchanged. Now, if in addition to swarms of bugs you begin to see wherewolves, THAT'S the full moon at work. marsh_0x
Hi MartyI've been thinking of you as our (USA) northern hemisphere summer came 21 June means your 1st day of winter, imagine that such a small world with the internet.Last month the moon was at it's closest to earth and some other condition the scientists said to be special ?Oh sure I took some pictures, it was diffidently slightly bigger, as Jdoors said, tho the moon controls the tides but little else.Going naked outside to howl at the moon was futile.Take care my friend the best you can...Hi KeithMarsh

Pete_C
I saw an interesting report that indicated that there were observable analomies prior to the Japanese eartthquake. I believe they were thermal (IR) images but it could have been magnetic sensors. Needless to say, it appears that with proper monitoring equipment it may be possible to predict major quakes 24 hours or more in advance.http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0264370702000133http://fatwaramdani.wordpress.com/2011/05/26/land-surface-temperature-anomaly-before-and-after-9-0-m-earthquake-on-march-11th-2011-in-sendai-tohoku-region-japan-multisensor-analysis/

Pete_C
I heard that a hotel company in NZ is catching flak over billing guests who were trapped in the hotel when the elevators and stairs collapsed for an additional day, since they did not vacate the hotel by 8am; and storage and parking fees for their cars crushed when the parking garage collapsed. Yeah, Marty seems to have caught more than his share of natural disasters this year.
