Pete_C
For some time now the Computer Emergency Response Team has recommended uninstalling Java Runtime Environment due to security holes which allow zero day exploits. Each time one gets patched a new one appears. For some time I took the attitude that as long as they were rapidly patching holes, and the number of exploit sites were minimal it was not that much of a risk to average users. However, with the recent use of a hacked site to use this exploit to penetrate the in house networks at Apple and Facebook and the rapid spread of infected sites I now agree that it is time to just uninstall Java Runtime Environment. That will free up over 100MB of disk space and eliminate the risk.If they ever get it all sorted out, then we can safely reinstall if anyone still uses it then.
