name9902
hmm i'm kinda stumped on this...is the external data bus(EDB) simply the bus running 8 bits back and forth between the CPU and RAM or is it a gerneral name for all the busses?
Chappy
Hi name9902, and Welcome to BestTechie! The EDB (external data bus) is a term for the data bus that connects your computer with any peripheral devices. This bus includes things like the USB bus, the IEEE1394 (firewire) bus and the Frontside bus.The Internal Data Bus is strictly contained within the CPU circuitry itself, moving data thru the chip's internal caches.Did this help?
