Another Random Sound Bites Problem - Continual Viruses Appearing

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just read with interest another post about Random Sound bites. I have been having the same problem for about two weeks now. Each day avast is catching around 30 new viruses. Something is setting them off as I have not been downloading anything recently. I have Spyblaster, Spybot and Avast loaded. I'm running Windows XP with SP2.

Help would be appreciated so much.

Thanks

I'm hopeful though because prior to this every time I ran HiJax the Avast would kick in with about 20 new viruses. This time I ran HiJax and no infected files showed up with avast. So maybe, just maybe...

Get back to us in a couple of days and tell me if this fixed all your popup/sound clip problems. If it works then I will download this program as well, I'm just sick of all these different spyware programs not fixing the problem.

I am having the same problems as you with the occasional popup from IE or flash, and not as many viruses found per day (though I'm still getting 5-10).

UPDATE

Yesterday got through the day without any random sound clips (1st day in a few weeks), also avast did not popup with any viruses (also a first).

I ran Malware last night and it did show four registry keys infected and two files infected. Two from the list above had 'reappeared'. So, I don't know if it's completely clean yet or not. The instigating file may still be hidden somewhere in the system, but Malware has definitely been the most effective so far.

Prior to this when I would run either Malware or Hijax the avast would kick in showing viruses whenever the Malware or Hijax accessed the infected files (checked it for viruses). So there is an activation mechanism tied to just accessing the files (one's above).

My plan at this point is to continue to 'watch' and run Malware each evening to see if we can get to 'clean'. Again this has been by far the most effective, but may not be a complete fix.

Thanks

Hey guys,

First off sorry for the delayed responses here, we're severely understaffed unfortunately and finding new malware helpers can be tough. However, I have contacted the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware lead developer and informed him of this infection with links to all of the logs so you may be asked to provide some of the files to them so they can make definitions to remove it once and for all.

Sorry about the inconvenience and I will try and get a malware helper to look at your logs. :)

Howdy guys, i would like to point out that you should not keep making post until you have heard back from a HJT expert on your first post. Because HJT experts look for topics that has no replys, if it has a reply then usually it means that another HJt expert is working the topic and they don't click to see that you replied to your own topic.

Flik please don't post in someones topic either, if you need help please start your own topic.

WWW if BT doesn't get someone to look at your log. please start a new topic with no replys in a few days !!!

Sorry to but in but thought i would let you guys know !!

UPDATE 2

The problem unfortunately is not fixed. I have been running malware each night and over the last day or two have begun to get the random sound bites once more. Now my dtr laptop has the same one. She is 12 and her computer starting randomly playing 'hard' rap. She was shocked at the words, which I overheard. So, needless to say I'd like to get this fixed.

I'm also back to when I run Malware, as soon as access occurs to the problematic files which are currently:

Registry Keys Infected:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\macidwe (Backdoor.Bot) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\sobicyt (Backdoor.Bot) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\tdxdowkc (Backdoor.Bot) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

Files Infected:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\comsa32.sys (Trojan.Agent) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\atsxyzd.sys (Rootkit.Agent) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

Then avast pops up with multiple virus alerts. Each time I tell it to delete the files, but obviously the instigator is still out there.

Here's my current HiJax file - Let me know if you want me to start a new post. Thanks

Unfortunately most of the problematic files have returned. I addition I am now getting a Spybot message asking if I should allow a boot file change - which I am denying. (Like an autochk bootfile).
