shanenin
That is a decent board. You did not list the proc speed. Any thing with ddr memory is relatively fast for running ME or even XP.
garmanma
Max out the memory if it isn't already, sit back and enjoy. It has onboard video and an AGP slot. If you're not happy with the graphics and it's using onboard, you could always get an AGP card. Oh yeah, a new fan Mark
TheTerrorist_75
I'm still running a Socket A motherboard wih the AMD XP 2400+. It still does everything I need it to do.
bearskin
That is a decent board. You did not list the proc speed. Any thing with ddr memory is relatively fast for running ME or even XP.well it has 256 meg of ram. I haven't the slightest idea how to find out what speed the cpu is.I guess if you guys think it's good then I will put some money into it.2 gigs of ram.....I don't knowcd-rw...$30 cpu fan.....$5 including shipping Edited February 18, 2008 by bearskin
bozodog
You sure don't need 2gigs of ram.... That's Vista territory.
Honda_Boy
My new rig is rockin 4GB but no processor yet Yeah, but unless you are gaming, you don't really need 2GB of RAM.
shanenin
Until recently my main workstation computer was an athlon xp 2600 with 512MB or Ram.

blim
Bearskin, as far as the Ram goes, I am running XP just fine and dandy with 256gigawatts of Ram--I know, I know.....BUT, I'm not a gamer or super-surfer, but I don't think you are, either. My idiotbox runs just fine!!! Son "guns" his idiotbox and recently upgraded it to 1 G of Ram and he is thrilled with the results....try it out with the 256 and see how it behaves before investing money in more Ram. JSKY
If anything. Just get another stick of 256m. 512Megs of ram is just fine for running XP with any added goodies you could want. And you might find someone with a stick just laying around they might want to get rid of for next to nothing.
bearskin
ok...I found a guy with ram that will fit (for free) so I gonna go with 512 "gigawatts" of rambuy a cd-rw AND a cpu cooler fan.thanks everyone for the remarks.
Pete_C
ok...I found a guy with ram that will fit (for free) so I gonna go with 512 "gigawatts" of rambuy a cd-rw AND a cpu cooler fan.thanks everyone for the remarks.I was going to ask if you had replaced that damaged fan.I would not be surprised if the damaged fan is causing the CPU to heat up and that the CrashFree BIOS ASUS C.O.P. (CPU Overheating Protection)is throttling the CPU back to keep it from being cooked.
