i had it in a note book but as i havent had to use it for years

i cant find it nor can i remember the command line any

For Win2K/XP the command to abort shutdown is shutdown -a

Yeah marty, I am not sure what you are asking.

I think you mean the command line shutdown /a (or shutdown -a) for WinXP as with DOS (and win9x / me ) you exit , not shutdown the os.

sorry i didnt explain

the reason

a friend has this new compt

and all of a sudden it has started random shutdons

ive check the temp but i havent had it to peices yet to daunting for me

i thought this may be the reason as it shuts down

after it it has been running a while

it hasent been apart so nothing has been touched internally

so i presume it is soft ware

like drivers ect

i remember when the blaster worm was around it

would shut down the compt and the command line was the fix

but ime off to read petes fix at g4

some how i may have fixed this thing

remembering years ago

some one techtv said if you have shutdown

problems try truning off your screen savers

in this case as soon as the compt started the screen saver

it went into standby

i couldnt find the reason for this but i turned off the screen saver

set the power options

to never

and wiped the desk top pic

and so far so good
