HeavyJ
Have an older Gateway Select 1200, have a second HD with Ubuntu on it and the master has XP. Even before the second HD was added and even though I have reloaded XP, when starting up, the led light on the E drive (A CD-RW drive), will constantly flash and the E drive and D drive (a DVD Rom) will not show up in MY Computer. Most of the time a restart will stop the light and bring the drives back to showing up in My Computer, but at times it can take another restart or 2. Is this a hardware problem or? JSKY
Have you noticed you system clock loosing time.It may be a sign the battery on your motherboard is almost spent. It sounds like the BIOS is resetting itself and not holding the startup info it needs each time. Thus defaulting back each time you start up your computer.
HeavyJ
The clock seems to keep perfect time. Never replaced the battery, will look and see what type battery needed and hunt one down.
TheTerrorist_75
Check the power & IDE cable connections to the drives. Also check that the power supply is stilll within spec.
