Tj Maxx ? Marshals

Recommended Posts

OK so I'm watching the morning news and they report TJX the parent company of TJ Maxx and Marshals had a security issue. Hackers had access to their credit card database for like 18 months. What the hell. So they have an IT department with a security team? 18 months. The good news supposedly 75% of the cards were expired, now the other 25% are being declined because they are MAXED OUT. LOL.

that is the kind of thing that keeps me from using credit cardsunless absolutely necessary. I write checks or pay cash wherever possible. A friend got stung for over $1000 some years ago and had a two year fight with tthe card company before they finally relented and accepted that he did not buy the stuff.

A girl at work also got caught because her soon to be ex put up the credit limit on her card and spent a lot of it before she voided the card. As he was an authorised co user the card company let him do this without calling her.

Cash, cash, cash.... I use my card if I need it before I can get to the bank for cash. And only with retailers I have done business with for years...

I believe I heard the numbers were stolen for "several" years... HELLO!!!!!! 45 mil accounts?? And no one noticed? Jeesch

I check my transactions online at least once a week and compare that to the slips before I file them .

Same with bank accounts. Any discrepancy and you can be sure I would be in touch and things frozen until I was satisfied.

Not to mention demanding compensation of some sort for my finding it before them.

I've only heard the story in passing. Did you know most businesses have a policy of keeping this type of thing quiet? So ... how many OTHER companies has this already happened to?
