hitest
Very cool, marty!!! Congratulations on your achievement:-) You're now a true Linux user because you kept plugging away at it until you got it to work. Nicely done, man!
shanenin
I agree, I also have trouble getting my text to look the way I like. When I use firefox, I goto edit>>preferences>>content . Then under "fonts and colors", I set minimum font size to 14. This helps alot. This may cause a few problems with rendering on some sites, but it is not to bad. iccaros
The Thunderbird problems may be just ubuntu's build. Try taking the version from the thunderbird site, I think its a tar.gz file (a zip) and just untar it in your home folder and double click the thunderbird file. it should run. You can also use iccaros's way too, you'll just need to open up a terminal prompt which you'll find in accessories:-)

Thanks for the reply. You've got a few options.1. Stick with 4.10. It is an older version of Ubuntu which is no longer supported with security updates. But, if it works, hey why not?2. If you had trouble with 6.06 you can download the 6.10 alternate desktop iso which is more forgiving of different hardware set-ups.3. You can download Kubuntu 6.10 which is the KDE version of Ubuntu.4. You can order some Ubuntu CDs for free. See my pinned link at the top of this forum.Let us know if we can be of further help.
