martymas Posted January 25, 2007 Report Share Posted January 25, 2007 (edited) hi team i need advice on a little problem ive encounteredmartyrecently i installed ubuntu on a dual boot with xp proon two drives xp on one and ubuntu on the othereventually i had to take ubuntu off by going to adminstrative tools -computer management-disk managementand delete the ubuntu partitionsbut found later i couldnt boot into windowswhen i booted up. the dos screen said a grub errori went to the bios and changed the boot orderseveral optionsand tried several times in the end i had to reinstall windowsi intend to install ubuntu later but i dont want this problem to happen again is there any way round this grub thing is this the way to uninstall ubuntu with out the grub error problem thanks marty Edited January 25, 2007 by martymas Quote Link to post Share on other sites
tictoc5150 Posted January 25, 2007 Report Share Posted January 25, 2007 Heya Marty,A reinstall of windows was unnecessary but for the next time you encounter the issue...I usually go about deleting the partitions the same way you mentioned - Reboot with Windows CD (CD drive set as first boot device in BIOS, of course), enter the recovery console (press R when it asks you whether you want to install windows {if memory serves me}), When you're at the console, type:fixmbrThis will remove the grub bootloader and let windows boot normally.
