having heard rumors

i went and had a look at avg

I'm wondering if you need to re-register and get another Avast key. You can get at the Avast site.

avast! 4 Home Edition works for 60 days after the installation in demo mode. You will obtain your FREE license key by E-mail after the registration. The license key is valid for 1 year. After one year you will need to just re-register.

Check Here and see. It could be whats happening...or something else.

I'm using Avast and have been for a few years now....it updated yesterday.

Update avast! 4.x VPS (released: 23.11.2006, version: 0650-2)

Hmm, on my system with avast ; the windows security center has no problem recognizing it and knowing it is up to date.

Personally, I prefer it to AVG; but still am willing to pay for F-Secure for full protection.

I'll have to give Avast another look, Pete. I've never tried F-secure. Is F-secure better than Norton AV 2006?
