kailuakid
It's human nature to fondly think about days long ago, when life was far simpler. Some things, however, are far better now than they were back then in the good old days.

tenmm
One blessing/curse is the cellphone. It has made my job easy and faster (no need to look for a working phone)and at the sametime it has made my job tougher they can "find me" .The good old days before cell phones=6 of one half a dozen of the other. kailuakid
I hear you on that. It's unfortunate that a lot of recent "improvements" have been either a mixed blessing or a bungled curse. These are the good old days.

Nope, didn't do that, but I do remember sitting at a key punch terminal and typing up stacks of cards to be read by the card reader. And then walking to the mainframe and hoping I didn't have an extra space between characters on any of the cards.

jcl
Some things, however, are far better now than they were back then in the good old days.Speak for yourself Interesting book. First edition has some faint UKisms and some IBMisms, and the revised edition looks like it was further IBMified (or at least Americanized) in places. The '79 edition was one giant anachronism even when it was published. Edited December 4, 2004 by jcl
