tman70
I have got the CDRW 48x to burn and read cd's, also my DVD Rom works with WMPlayer Classic on my Dell Millennium.I did a clean install, with all updates, on the Gateway Essential 500c using the Gateway disk's that came with the unit. The CDRW works ok, however the WMPlayer Classic gives me this reading:?/????r::?3D !??????????????)?::?t???????::?tdi!Media Type 0:--------------------------Audio: PCM 48000Hz stereo 1536KbpsAM_MEDIA_TYPE: majortype: MEDIATYPE_Audio {73647561-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71}subtype: MEDIASUBTYPE_PCM {00000001-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71}formattype: FORMAT_WaveFormatEx {05589F81-C356-11CE-BF01-00AA0055595A}bFixedSizeSamples: 1bTemporalCompression: 0lSampleSize: 1cbFormat: 18WAVEFORMATEX:wFormatTag: 0x0001nChannels: 2nSamplesPerSec: 48000nAvgBytesPerSec: 192000nBlockAlign: 4wBitsPerSample: 16cbSize: 0 (extra bytes)pbFormat:0000: 01 00 02 00 80 bb 00 00 00 ee 02 00 04 00 10 00 ....€»...î......0010: 00 00 ..What does this mean and how do I correct it? OK!!!I figured it out. For some reason WMPayer classic will not work with this Gateway. I was given a CD of "WinDVD 2000" and installed it. I now can play DVD Movies on the Gateway. I had already done a clean install of W98se, so now the CD-RW works and the DVD PLays. Thanks to all who have helped. Edited November 23, 2006 by tman70
