Hi Pat, Thanks for the great post! Yes, I think that you and your husband would enjoy traveling by train. I'm totally hooked now. My parents live very far away from me in the southern part of my province, near Vancouver, a distance of 1525 km. I'm thinking that a train trip all through our province would be sublime.

Whoa, they must be professional grade shoppers like my wife. Shopping with a vengeance.

Agreed! BT rules the Internet.

Hi Breen, Yep XFce is awesome on older hardware. I had an old Pll 266 that ran Slackware and XFce very well. Welcome to our Linux forum, Breen. Nice screenshot!

Hi Mark, I was also attracted to Linux because of its legendary stability. It is a very stable OS. I also like the cost factor, many exceptional Linux distros are free. I will probably buy a Vista box for my daughter in 6 months to a year, but, I'll let the early adopters find all of the bugs, and let the hardware vendors become Vista compliant. Yes, Linux can be hacked, but, it isn't as easy a target as Windows. Also, Linux distros are quickly patched when vulnerabilities are discovered.

Well-said, shanenin:-) That's one of the things that can almost become boring about Linux is the rock-solid stability. I have four PCs at home, one is my daughter's Windows box. I spend the most time maintaining that unit, scanning for spyware, viruses, trojans, defragging the unit, etc, etc. Windows is way too much work to maintain. My three Linux boxes just run.......and run........and run.

Agreed. Little by little the penguin is making inroads into the PC marketplace. There seems to be quite a bit of growth in Europe and Asia. The business community is getting used to the idea of Linux:-)

LOL You and me both, man! I absolutely hate shopping, but, my wife on the other hand, she raises the art of shopping to an Olympic level sport. She loves shopping and is very good at it; she will examine many items and get the perfect buy. I know exactly what I want before I enter any store and I'm in and out in five minutes or less.

Hi Marty, Thanks for the welcome back:-) We enjoyed the trip so much we're going to go on a longer trek this summer into the interior. The trip to the center of our province is a one day train trip, a distance of 725 km, or about 450 miles. That should be fun!
