  1. "I don't know if this happened because I installed Firefox or not. WMP has been working all week. All of a sudden I cannot play music cd's or streaming audio." Mark, the only thing I can tell you for sure is that Firefox does not affect WMP 10 for me. I use them both.
  2. Will appreciate anyone's time. I have a friend who used to be able to log in to her company's website with a password and username but cannot now. I came home and was able to get it on my computer, so I know it should work for her. She is still using Windows 98, but I feel like it is probably something in the advanced options of Internet Explorer that is checked or not checked. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks! nancy
  3. Audio Grabber Thanks, Bubba Bob. I have heard of that, and will check to see it I can record line in with it. Appreciate your time!
  4. Does anyone know if using Musicmatch would cause any problems with WMP10? The only thing I want to use Musicmatch for is to record some XM radio programs through my line in/mic. I downloaded the free version, but it doesn't record line in, so before I buy the Plus for $20, I thought I'd check with the board. Thanks for anyone's time. nancy
  5. Two additional updates have been released this month that affect Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. ~~~~~ Really appreciate your time, Besttechie -- I figured this, but it was the first time I got an update without seeing mention of it in tech news sources.* Thanks so much! n *All did appear in Wednesday's news though, so I guess I rushed into worrying!
  6. Just wondering... I installed the update that came out early [a few days ago], but this morning another one popped up. I have not read about this one and wondered if this too was expected and is one everyone else's computer? KB908519? Thanks for your time. nancy
  7. Appreciate hearing that all is okay, Liz. That's exactly what I came to ask!
  8. Bubba Bob -- just wanted to tell you that you were exactly right -- WMP was the place to delete from the player. You go to the sync menu...then all of the player's present files show up in the right column...you can right click on any of them, and it gives you the option to delete from the player. I'm mainly giving this info for anyone else out there who might find it useful....but there may not be anyone else out there who would have trouble figuring this out! Thanks again for your time! ~~~~~~~~~~ Fubz -- I don't think my player has that same function that yours does but sure appreciate y
  9. Why dont you just use the included software?
  10. If fubz is out there...or anyone else who might know... Haven't put anything on my iriver yet, but in looking through the manual, I can't find anything about how to delete a particular recording -- like an interview after I've listened to it. I have read in reviews that the iriver doesn't let you do this without being connected to the computer, but I'm wondering if I would just go through My Computer...open the drive...and then delete like you would any file? ...or if it is done through Windows Media Player? Will appreciate anyone's time. nancy
  11. Fubz, Thanks so much for your time and for answering in such a clear way. I need that! I feel confident now about the update. You have really helped me out! isteve, I appreciate your input too...guess we were both wrong about the Finish part ...but I guess Iriver meant what it said concerning the sequence!!
  12. fubz! -- I am really excited and appreciate your responding! This is my first mp3 player, so I'm not wanting to just guess when the directions aren't clear to me...am afraid of chosing wrong and causing a problem. So...I am looking forward to your input and hope you have time. I know I need to update because there was a notice on the packaging. I looked at the website directions at http://www.iriveramerica.com/support/mtpupdate/, and have three questions: 1. On #6 in the directions, do I ... ...click Finish...and then disconnect the iriver H10, or ...disconnect the iriver before clickin
  13. I was wondering if there is anyone on the board who has an iriver H10 20GB player and has updated the firmware on it yet. I have looked at the instructions on the website and have a couple of questions before I try. Thanks! nancy
  14. Sure appreciate everyone's time and responses. I'll get them downloaded!
  15. Just checking to see if anyone has heard of any problems with the Windows XP updates issued last Tues 12. Appreciate anyone's time. nancy
  16. Just want to thank you all for responding...sure appreciate your time. Thanks also, Sethook, for Chachazz's name. For the updates, I feel good after reading these comments. nancy
  17. Has anyone heard of any problems with the Tuesday's Windows updates? Thanks for your time! nancy
  18. Thanks, guys. At one time, this was the going train of thought on the boards, but maybe most kinks with that problem are gone....for reasons you stated, JDoors. Appreciate the answer. n
  19. Thank you all for taking your time on this topic. I am sold...and am downloading updates now. I'm sure it was irritating to read that I was even considering the advice, but after what I just went through with the computer I am replacing [after doing all of the right things constantly...Internet Security;3 spyware programs; always updated; no downloading habits of music or anything else], hopefully you would at least semi-understand. Thanks again! n
  20. Am having to re-install all programs on a new computer. I am running Norton Internet Security and wanted to check if it is still important to disable the Norton Anti Virus 2005 during actual installations... as it was with earlier versions of Norton. If so, I assume this is also true when installing Windows updates? Will appreciate your time very much. n
  21. Am appreciating the comments so much. Just wanted to make sure. JCL...what a good point! Brian...I understand what you're saying -- makes sense. I think I am too conditioned to change my pattern anyway--would feel like I was breaking the law every day. Just wanted to check on responses to this. n
  22. Finally, I have had the chance to join Besttechie and already have a question: For years, I have followed the advice of so many of you as well as all of the news authorities and absolutely continued to keep updated with critical updates. Yesterday the computer guy [who has done everything to my computers [building them...adding to them...replacing things, etc.] that I have been associated with and trusted since 1992 told me that he believed in having SP2 but he did not believe in getting the critical updates. Is there anything new that has happened that I don't understand or am not aware of?
