memory Issues on the phone? If so,you need to reduce the bitrate for the mp3s when you encode them. You don;t need great quality on a phone.

sorry i hate to be a bit of a buzz kill but technically your still using an illegal copy. the license that you get from getting the music off napster doesn't work like that. your monthly fee only rents the music from them until the end of your service. and technically you sercomventing the copyright protection by doing this. so technically it's just as illegal as if you had downloaded it illegally for free to begin with.
Actually, thats not even close to correct. This is directly from the Napster TOS:
"Purchased Track" is a Track that you may (1) save to the hard drives of up to three (3) of your personal computers and play back at any time, (2) burn to a CD and/or (3) transfer to a compatible portable device.
You may burn each Purchased Track to a CD an unlimited number of times, but may only burn each Purchased Track up to seven (7) times as part of any particular playlist of songs. A "playlist" is a discrete group of Purchased Tracks that are arranged together in a particular order. Once you have burned a Purchased Track to a CD, you agree not to copy, distribute, or transfer the track from that CD to any other media or device.
You may transfer a Purchased Track an unlimited number of times to two (2) portable devices that are compatible with the Service's Usage Rules and security requirements. Once you have transferred a Purchased Track to a compatible portable device, you agree not to copy, distribute, or transfer it from that device to any other media or device. You may be required to register your portable devices with Napster."
So,Original poster...you are doing nothing illagal based on te TOS that you agreed to when you joined Napster.

IF you can burn the wma files to a CD,as audio CD not Data CD...do so. Then use Windows Media Player to rip the songs BACK to your hard drive, making sure that the WMP is set to save as MP3s.
Note: The save as MP3 is ONLY available with version 10 of Windows Media player.

First, thanks for all the replies.
Yes, I knew what a power supply was, but just wanted to be sure. And, although I am not a techie, I have upgraded memory, change audio cards, etc. so there is no call for any insults
However, I am beginning to think that if you don't know enough about computers to know what the power supply is,maybe you need to take it to someone who does.As for what a teacher can afford, if you work in SC as a teacher, after you look at all the extra time I put in, I probably earn a buck 35 an hour so please, be nice!
If I understand correctly, install a new video card, and disable the onboard through device manager...will try it and get back to you all...
I'm sorry I didn't mean that as an insult. From your posts,it really seemed like you didn't know anything about computers.
Power supplies are easy to find. Tiger Direct,NewEgg,etc. Locally,I think even Circuit City has a few. I live in the country and don't have a credit card so I buy mine on ebay (new,of course) and so far, have been very happy with the ones I have bought. Got one in an old EMachines right now that I paid $13 for,and after 2 years, still running fine.
Just be sure to get the right size. I've never had to use a special size on an EMachine but I always get the micro-atx. Installation is simple. Unplug the old one, unscrew the mounting screws...put in the new one, plug everything back in the way it was.

The onboard card (if it IS onboard) is not really a card at all.. it is built into the motherboard. If the monitor connection on the back of the computer is in the same place as all of the other ports (USB,parallel, etc) it is onboard.
The power supply is the large metal box with the power connectors (cords) coming out of it. Should be at the top, against the back of the computer. Your power cord plugs into it.
However, I am beginning to think that if you don't know enough about computers to know what the power supply is,maybe you need to take it to someone who does.

eMachines are prone to PSU and Motherboard problems
Power supplies.....yes.I've had several Emachines over the years, and worked on a bunch more. Never have I had to replace a motherboard. Not once. Never had onboard video or sound go bad. Ever.
To the original poster...you might as well go ahead and replace the power supply now...you will have to eventually.
Borrow a Video card from a friend or another computer, test it and see if this solves the problem, before you buy one.

From Secunia.
Mozilla Firefox 1.x Vulnerability Report
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x Vulnerability Report
Opera 8.x Vulnerability Report
Seems like Opera beats them both.
Yeah, this is something that Long-Term Opera users (myself included) have know for a long time.
And you know what...independant tests have proven that its faster too.

what browser are you using?

good point but I needed the USB ports too. I had tried not one but 4 ethernet cards (tested and working) til I determined that the PCI slot was bad. And it was the only one open.
-
I had an older PC in my shop that didn't have an ethernet port, and only 2 UBB ports. I bought a DLink combo USB Hub/ Ethernet. Plugged it into the USB,installed the drivers (not necessary in XP) and I had ethernet, plus 3 USB ports in place of one. All of this without opening the Computer.
I bought the unit on Ebay ..a box of 10 unopened new in box for $60 incl shipping. Used 2 of them, gave 1 away...sold the rest on ebay one at a time. Ended up with a small profit, overall.
I assume they still make them. The easiest way I've founf to add ethernet to a computer.

For future reference and others with the same problem...the latest version of IE can be found on one of those AOL disks that you see everywhere. Just close out the AOL install when it starts, explore the CD. Its there. No download required.
IN fact, the latest disk that I explored also had ad-aware on it . Those AOL disks are good for something besides coasters.

For older laptops I get parts machines on ebay. In my experience, the manufacturers don't like to sell parts. They want you to send it in and let them fix it so they can charge you $200 for a 20 minute job.
Example: Compaq... I had to replace the touchpad assembly. Found a parts box on ebay for $30 including shipping. Part worked fine, about 20 minutes to install. Compaq wanted MINIMUM $100. PLus I ended up with a spare keyboard and working display for that model.
I have a laptop here now (IDP Vaqero) that nobody (including Crucial, etc) seems to have even heard of. Just need some memory. So I am watching eBay.

flashing green indicates no signal. If it was getting a signal from the computer,it should be solid green...

one more question....when the screen goes black,is there a blinking cursor in the upper left corner?
-
Laptop Hard drives are a different size than regular desktop hard drives. As far as I know, they are universal.
-
Long answer...in almost every case,no. Its a matter of connections and space. Most laptops have propriotary drives.
IN cases where the laptop is used as a desktop replacement, I would suggest ( to your customer) an external DVD combo drive. Watch DVDs and Burn....they are cheap enough now.
-
I would( not be surprized if the power supply was going bad. (This is common in EMachines) Could be overheating is well.
When you say that the screen goes black do you mean that the computer is still running (fans on,power light on,etc) or is it just turning itself off?

We're looking for software to convert AVI to DVD.... For some reason Nero don't like to play with our Toshiba DVD recorder/player.
Anyone have a nice library of choices?
I use DIKO. Free and easy to use.
-
I've seen this problem before and it very well could be that the network card is bad.
If network connection is onboard try a NIC they are cheap enough.

LOve it! Those WERE the good ole days. Us Kids only had 2 channels on TV , the games we played were Monopoly and Checkers (only on rainy days). WE didn't have all the fancy stuff kids have today but we had one thing that they don't seem to have anymore...Imaginations. Can you see a kid today running around the neighborhood astride a long stick or tree branch pretending he is the Gene Autry Riding Champ? Or going along looking in ditches for empty coke bottles,to get the 2 cent deposit back for them,so he can buy a nickle candy bar? We were poor (as most people were back then) but we sure had FUN!
I have neighbors here with kids and I can't remember the last time I saw any of them outside playing. How sad it makes me.

A lot more information would help. How does he connect? DSL,Cable,Dial-up? What is his set-up? Can't even hazard a guess with the info you gave.

Norton hasn't been on my computer in ages. Problems after problems when it was. First they buy Sygate and discontinue it to eleminate competition, now this. Something wicked this way comes.

I've heard that dark pads can kill batteries quicker than light so I got rid of my black pad and found a substantial improvement in life between charges.
I don't think I've ever heard why but it doesn't really matter to me anyway.
Thanks for all the replies. I think I'll go with a light colored surface.
-
I have a wireless mouse (2,in fact,on 2 computers) and have been told that the surface color of the pad (or desk, etc) affects the battery life.Anyone know more about this? I was told by someone that ligher surfaces extend battery life.

Probably when they figured out that anyone with any sense wouldn't pay for music on those terms you mentioned.
