  2. I ran Ad-aware and AVG on the this laptop and got this Hijackthis log. The computer runs really slow. I used Hijackthis.de and saw C:\WINDOWS\system32\CAPM1RSK.EXE come up as a nasty and was wondering what the best course of action would be. As always thanks for your time and help. 7. Ok here is my new Hijackthis log file. I was able to run AVG in normal mode, it found 8 different things but before it could save a log file a window popped up that said something bad happened and that it had to close. (It really said "something bad happened") So I ran a Hijackthis and this is the log file. Thanks for the help once again. 8. Ok I did a scan again in safe and AVG doesnt find anything. Kinda wierd though that it takes 30 secs to scan 103,000 files.(that could be normal I dont know). Should I post another HIjacklog?
  9. I am unable to use either of the those programs. I get error 52 with the ATF cleaner and then the Panda Active scan website freezes everytime I try to load it. Any other suggestions? **IE keeps closing on me and ATF cleaner just locks up.
  10. Helping a family member with a computer(XP Home) and after running Ewido(AVG 7.5) and Spybot in safe mode this is what is left of my hijackthis log file. I see a few questionable things but I have questions on how to appoarch them. Any help would be appreciated(as always). Here is my Hijackthis log, as for the exido log I removed everything it found and forgot to save the log. Thanks once again. 11. I finally got it working last night. Do you have McAfee security center on the computer that is sharing the printer? I had to enable "trust this IP address" of my computer since the computer with the printer was silently blocking me from the printer.
  12. Sorry that this won't help but I had the same problem 2 months ago and never figured it out. I'm still trouble shooting it. Best of luck to you.
  13. You could also enable ICS as well. Go in your control panel> Network Internet Connections> Network Connections. Right click on the connection to your laptop from the internet and go to properties. In the advanced tab there is a box that says "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection" put a check in the box next to it.
  14. Problem solved. I was downloading the driver from the intel website and that was not working and kept giving me the same error message. I finally went to the dell site and they recently updated all the driver downloads available for my laptop. I downloaded the driver I wanted and it worked. Wish I knew why but I'll just be glad that it did. Thanks for the help.
  15. I tried the link above and thank you very much for it. I was able to flash my bios to a newer version. I am still getting the same message though when I try to update my video driver.
  16. I have had the strangest problem lately on my laptop. I was going through all my drivers to see which ones I could find updates for. I came across an update for my onboard video driver. I downloaded it and tried running it but it keeps telling me that I can't update. It is a Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family Driver Version: 6.14.10.4446 I am trying to update to Driver Version: 6.14.10.4543 Everytime I try it says "You can not install this driver on this computer, Contact your manufacturer for more details." It is a new laptop from Dell, Inspiron E1505 with XP Media Edition SP2. I thoug
  17. Ok I am now able to access the shared folder on the laptops from the desktop, I can't however access the shared folder on the desktop from the laptops or add the printers to the laptops that are connected to the desktop. All firewalls are disabaled, anybody have any idea or should I just keep redoing the same steps over and over again until I am able to share the printers? Thanks the for the time and help once again.
  18. I have disabled the firewalls and I do not have NIS on any machine.
  19. There is no space in the names of the printers. The last link is the one I followed to start out with. Also this morning I can no longer connect to the network that I was originally allowed to. It says I don't have the correct permissions. grrrrrrrr!
  20. Ok I have managed to get all the computers to recognize eachother. On the laptops I am able to see the printers that are connected to the desktop. I go through the add a printer process and it hangs a little bit and than tells me that the printer is no longer connected or the printers name is invalid. I don't see how it can be invalid when it searches the network and finds the printers. Why won't they just connect. Thanks once again.
  21. I decided today that I would help setup all the computers in the house to be able to print of the two printers in the basement. I went through the network wizard on the desktop that the printers are connected to first. I then allowed file and printer sharing on this desktop. I then tried to connect the 3 other laptops to the network and can not figure out what I am doing wrong, the three laptops can not see the desktop. The desktop can see one laptop but that is it. Is there a way I can start from scratch here in case I messed up a little detail? The desktop is running XP Pro SP2 Laptop1 is r
  22. I have the same problems with Charter. I will lose my signal at least 3 times a day. I then have to unplug my router(I count to 10) then plug it back in. But I have the same problem even when I am connected to the modem directly.
  23. I leave my 2 computers on 24/7 as well. I can't remember when I turned off my laptop, which usually sits in the lliving as my jukebox. As for my desktop I only shut it off on the weekends when I'm not around just because last time I left it on, my roommate decided to use it computer and all hell broke loose(on the computer, not between him and I). Lets just say he is in college and went to a lot of questionable sites and he downloads everything that pops up("What? I won a contest? All I have to do is download this program to claim my prize? Sweet!"). The only problem I ever had was that I b
  24. Hi everybody. I am currently building a PC and got stuck when it came to finding a motherboard. I know I want to get an AMD Athlon X2 4800 and pretty much gut out my old Dell Dimension 8200 for its sound card, CD-ROM, DVD+RW/CD-RW. After looking at a bunch of differnent motherboards I came to the conclusion that I had no idea what to get. I was looking at the Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe after reading a review in MaximumPC but after looking at the price and what it all came with I thought that maybe that wouldnt be the best choice since it has onboard sound and I already have a sound card. Anyway
  25. My buddy took the computer to a repair shop and they told him that the motherboad fan was shot and that the motherboard was burned up beyound repair. Thanks for everyones help.
