  1. I found a jumper but I bet it just slows it from 266 to 200. I'll try to find a way to run the FSB up. Also I have copies of PC mark that can show the performance differences.
  2. Alright with the death of my main system I swapped a lot of the parts into my Compaq. Well I dropped the CPU in too. Problem is the Computer does not know what it is. The chipset is a VIA KM266 which supports a 266MHz FSB. The computer came with an Athlon XP 2600+. I think it operated at around 2.0GHz. Well I swapped my Athlon XP 3000+ 400MHz FSB version into it. Well like I said the computer cant tell what it is. I installed CPU-Z and all it says that it is an Athlon with a Barton core and it says it's only operating at 1.4GHz. At 400MHz FSB in the other computer it operated at 2.1GHz. does t
  3. I wish I had an area that big. lemme post a pic of what my bedroom setup looks like. The one on the right is where my Compaq used to sit. Right now there is nothing. If you look hard enough at the mouse pad you'll notice Barney Fife is on it. It says "This computer protected by Fife". I got it at Mt. Airy, N.C. Andy's home town. That mass of parts on an Acer box is what used to be my main computer. I'm still trying my damnedest to get it running again. The setup on the left which it is hooked up to is my repair station. That's where I hook up comuters I'm fixing. The "desk" is actually and old
  4. well I just got back from the computer store. It's gonna cost nearly $100 after tax to replace my Gigabyte GA-7N400-L with an MSI K7N2 Neo2. So uh yeah..... no. I'd rather spend 500 to essentially build a new system than to spend 100 to fix the outdated piece of junk I have now.
  5. congrats man. I flame only one mac user, and I do it only in the "real world". My brother. But he constanly makes fun of my PC's. anywho. I hope you spread your mac knowledge to all those who need it.
  6. what AEM stickers on my car? there is only one on the rear winshield that says HondaTuner.com. I don't have anything AEM on my car. I want AEM stuff on m car instead of APC. Any way people I really would like to see the setups ya'll have. It's fun to know if others desks are as covered up in crap as mine.
  7. Cause my good computer died on me I have my Compaq in it's place until I replace the others motherboard or until I build a new one. But this is what my desk looks like now. I just rearranged everything cause of the LCD. It allows me to put it on the lower part of the desk where I can see it cause of the "small" size. Post pics of your computer area.
  8. well colling your amp doesn't sound like a bad idea but everyone I know has their amp in the trunk and no way is the AC getting too it. None complain about heat. Though it ain't a bad idea. Sucks that you lost your job. I was gunnin hard for the position at my local shop but the guy hired someone else. I still work at my sucky BBQ joint job.
  9. holy crap that is hilarious man. in japan they aren't as strict about "decency" as in the US where they try to hide everything from everyone.
  10. oh I know. I plan buyin an evga nForce4 SLI x16 Mobo despite the fact some think it's a Jetway. I don't think it is since their is no evidence on Jetway's website that they even produce an SLI x16 board. The only SLI boards they make are the nForce4 SLI (which evga's version is actually a rebranded Jetway) and the nForce570 SLI for the AM2. I'll also get an Athlon 64 3500+, an EVGA e-GeForce 7600GT and a Forton Source 450W PSU. After tax and shipping (I live in TN one of the 3 places they charge tax) it'll be about $520.
  11. weell I've torn down the Sidewinder. I've tried everything I can thnk of to get it to work. I've moved the memory, video card, DVD+/-RW, and PSU to the Compaq. And yes I crammed a Full size PSU into a Micro ATX Case. other than a slight little piece of metal blocking the plug-in on the PSU so I just bent it a little and voila. All the screw holes lined up. Well, I'm gonna have to beg for new parts. I'll just ge t a mobo, CPU, video card, and PSU and reuse everthing else. I may buy a case.
  12. also what I mean by it not booting, I mean the monitor doesn't even pick up a signal. I think either the Something on the mobo (probably the bios) or the CPU is fried. I doubt it's the CPU cause I fixed the overheating issue a long time ago. If I had a spare mobo to use I'd use it. I'll have to hit up the local store monday, they are the only peope left that still carry nForce 2 Ultra 400 boards. I've tried doing the jumper thing, nothing happened. I tried removing the battery (which fixed the old Gateway when it did the same thing) nothing. Oh well, I think it's time to replace the motherboar
  13. Well happy birthday man. Come on back when ya think about it.
  14. Well I was monkeying with the face Wizard on it to change the opening splash screen just to see if I could get it to work. Well once I did but didn't like what I had put on there. well months later I decide to try iy again. Well it asks me to restart for the changes to take effect. OH NO it won't boot. I tried clearing the bios every way I could and no luck. Also there are no beeps coming from the system speaker. I tried trying just one stick of ram in the main slot trying both. NO IT DON'T WORK. I tried trying a VGA CRT monitor, NO!!!!!!!!!!!! It won't boot. Is my BIOS fried? It sure seems
  15. well welcome stranger and I'm glad you already love us.
  16. Well it has arrived and for $207.56 this monitor RULES. No ghosting, looks absolutely beutiful and it weighs next to nothing so when LAN party time hits, it'll be a snap to move.
  17. well I'm moving monitors all around the house due to the arrival of my new Acer 19" LCD. I also just finshed fixing my manager's PC and got it ready to replace the owner's (of my workplace that is) laptop because the manager is going to be taking over much of the operation of the place. Plus it seems I am constantly repairing computers for people for free. I'm going to start charging. Also, I fmy friend messes up his laptop one more time I'm taking it away from him.
  18. well welcome back, I .. didn't really notice...... yeah. I don't pay very good attention. Come to think of it I really did kinda notice an absence of your posting. Well hope a had some fun. Good to see ya back.
  19. Well I orderd the second Acer DOSerror linked. It was such a good deal I wasn't going to pass it up. I'm very very cheap. It seems to be a pretty good monitor. We'll find out soon.
  20. Alienware is still alienware, just Dell owns them. Dell said that Alienware was so successful on it's own that they were not going to mess with them. Thus, Alienware still uses AMD. Also pick up a PC Gamer somewhere and scan through the ads. Some are pretty budget oriented like Cyberpower and IbuyPower. There are a few more too.
  21. I took apart 2 laptop screens (both working but very old) I was trying to get rid of them. Neither laptops' battery worked nor did I care. I was just using them on external monitors and each only had 1 PS/2 port which explains why I removed the screens. Lets just say one wasn't going back on no matter what. I had to cut the cables. The other just unhooked. Also to let ya'll know they were both 486's one with OS/2 Warp and the other with Windows 95 that had been upgraded from 3.1. I really didn't care if either worked. needless to say they both died and I have properly diposed of both. Good luc
  22. this guy reminds me of my friend Ron. Man even when the dude was 6 he was insanely good.
  23. I always suggest ABS cause they have decent performance for a fair price. I also suggest Alienware's budget line.
