Strange one from the shop
lefty1953 replied to GrundleLove's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
And you are using your own known good monitor? Back in the 80's I had a 8088 System that blew the chip on the board that I replaced to get video. I am pretty sure they don't have such a chip on the motherboard anymore and just use the graphics cards. The only thing I would do is try another graphics card and also try it in a different card slot if possible. Most likely it is using the only card slot on the motherboard for graphics. AGP Pci Express or whatever they have now. -

You can NOT boot from it. Just able to open the file with say Notepad. -
If all else fails reboot. But just open the toolbar menu and make sure it is highlighted!

So you found such file on your PC? I am almost positive you can not run that file or you would have done so by now. All you can do is try to run it. Reboot and go into command system and try to run it. -

I have found that using Hibernation is not good no matter what windows you have. As far as recovering something that wasn't saved I would say no it isn't possible.NO way to recover from a Hibernation and BSOD. -
Alienware Command Center Fatal Error
lefty1953 replied to Potato2k4's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
If this is a program that came with your PC can't you just restore it from HD or Disk? -
Yes software can always cause a problem. Try uninstalling the most recent programs 1 at a time and see if that doesn't fix it.

Have you connected an external drive or flash drive to it recently? And if so did you just unplug it or use the Safe to remove system?

Sometimes you can download a bad file or there is an error while downloading. Try downloading it again and make sure your on Mozilla's web site when you do.

Got it going just installed the Printer software and put in the correct name of my PC and the Printer used on my PC and all works fine.

Quick question. Do I have to install the printer software on each computer that I want to be able to use the printer on my Network? My wifes PC can see the printer but I get an error trying to print from it. It states"COM Surrogate has stopped working"

Printer and Router update.
lefty1953 replied to lefty1953's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I think you might have it Pete. I might try connecting all the other PC's first then load the one with the Belkin adapter last. Falcon I will also check for an update to the adapter. Although I already bought a new adapter and will not be using the old PC I put the Belkin adapter on. I will at least have a back up if needed. -
After buying a new Router I also had to end up buying a new Wireless adapter for my wife's PC. The old one just quit on her. All is well now with the Router on my desk and not next to the Printer. Well I thought all was well until I took apart that old wireless adapter and got it to work on another PC in another room. Plugged it in and made some updates to that PC and went to pick up the wife. Came home and my wife's PC couldn't connect to my Router again. Had to unplug the router and plug it back in. I am now thinking it was that stupid Belkin Wireless adapter I had all this time. It is unpl

Problems with Window 7 Home Premium

Memtest86.com takes you to their site. I created a ISO for mine years ago. Not sure it will work with the new RAM. If you don't want to buy it you can go to their download section and create it on CD yourself. -

Glad to see you got it running again. But in my first post to you I suggested you test the Ram. There is a free ram tester out there. I have one on CD I created but haven't used it in years. -

One good thing to remember is when you set up a new PC you should always only install 1 program at a time and try the PC out before installing another. This way you will know what program causes the problems. And some programs clash with others. Like 2 Antivirus programs is not a good idea as well as 2 or more Toolbars on IE or Firefox. I have never had good luck with any toolbar. And there are programs that are constantly trying to update on the internet. These cause problems and you should turn off auto updates for them. -

That could do it. You don't have more than one Anti Virus program running do you? I know that can cause a lot of problems as well. If you haven't already started redoing the PC I would suggest just removing ADD/DELETE from control panel programs you last installed first. One at a time and rebooting each time to see if it helps. -
Can a printer throw off your Router?
lefty1953 replied to lefty1953's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Well after buying a new Router I found out it still did the same thing. So I moved the new router back onto my desk away from the Printer and haven't had a problem since. I guess that printer must throw out some serious interference. The router is about 18 inches from the PC and 8" away from a speaker and now problems. Oh and I also plugged the new router in with an extension cord to another outlet. But the printer would still throw it out even when the printer was off. My Cell phone causes the speakers to make noises when I put it on my desk also. -

How do you have the Hard drives hooked up? I would make both master drives and have the CD/DVD drive as slave to one of them. As far as clicking could be you have a bad connection to one or both drives.A bad connection can cause freezing and bad shut down as well. Double check all your connections to all drives and devices. This includes the Graphics card. Also I would go into BIOS and make sure nothing is set up to wake up the PC. -

Have you tried another PS? If you have any other PC around it should have all the connections you need to test it. -
Can a printer throw off your Router?
lefty1953 replied to lefty1953's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
After going most of the day with no problems I went out and bought a new router. All day was fine and I even plugged the old router into another wall outlet and when I turned my back for a minute the router disconnected again. I will try the new router out for a while and hopefully it will be fine. If I have the same problems with it I guess the next step is to contact the ISP. Oh and the printer wasn't on all day either so I just don't know. This is the 2nd Linksys Router I owned and the 2nd one that went bad. First one just wouldn't work at all anymore. -

Yep same outlet. -
I recently moved my Router next to my printer and have had my Router disconnect whenever the printer is on. Maybe once with it off but when it is on I have to unplug and plug the Router in several times in one night of use. Is it possible the printer does this? It is a Lexmark X5070 All in One with USB cable. The fax line is not hooked up and I have a DSL modem.
