  1. My ex-wife is allergic to alcohol, but luckily it's only a mild allergy. Anytime she'd be drinking she would turn deep red like she was highly embarassed about something...but that was the extent of the allergy - just an extremely flushed face. Still, she didn't drink often...poor thing - worked for me...we always had a designated driver when we went out! hehehe....

  2. Good to see you here Sultan - it's so strange seeing your name on a post but not seeing your little kitty kat avatar. LOL... Were you afraid if you brought it in here it might get marsh by the head again?

Looking forward to future discussions! :D

  3. Would love to jump on this during the day, but alas, I have a feeling I'd end up in big troubles....my work doesn't like me going to non-tech sites, and I have a feeling it's gonna include chatting, even though it may BE about tech. LOL...will have to jump on in the evening sometime. :P

Tonight, however, I have a baseball game to be at...go Rangers! B)

  4. Has anyone used the new Yahoo toolbar with Anti-Spy? I'm not sure how long it has been in release, but I haven't heard a lot about it. It's located here if anyone wants to check it out as well.

To run Yahoo! Toolbar you will need:

    * Microsoft Windows operating system. (95, 98, ME, 2000, XP)

    * Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher.

My boss wants me to test it out and evaluate it and I'd like to give him a really thorough report, including those of others that have used it and the successes/failures they've had with it. I'm pretty skeptical going in, but maybe it'll turn out okay. I used to like the Yahoo toolbar quite a bit before Google came along and made one that slaughtered it. BUT, so far as I know, Google isn't doing anything with anti-spy in their toolbar.

Anyone know what type of anti-spyware technology this is based on? Thanks everyone!

  5. YES!

That is precisely what this Not-so WiredMonkey needs this morning!!  Good ol' Wake-Up Juice.  :P

Just imagine if an espresso mod was in the works, you would be bouncing off the walls. Or for il wiccan a small distillery, for some sour mash.

That is certainly not the exclusive territory of il_wiccan! LOL... Just give me some of that sweet nectar and watch me get wired on it! Woo hoo!!

Besides, Jack mixes pretty well with coffee....nice little sweetener. :P

  7. LOL...what a riot...thanks for sharing olmec36...you almost have to think the person that falls for THAT deserves to be a little lighter in the account balance. ;) j/k of course...a fool and his money ARE soon parted though. :P

  8. I learned about Windows-D the same day I learned about how to use Alt-Tab to cycle between programs. We had a Terminal/Desktop type PC at work with no mouse but a tiny little touchpad on the keyboard (we used it as a cash register but also to check work emails and use the web for certain portions of the job). Needless to say those two shorcuts come in VERY handy.

  9. handplane:

Thank you VERY MUCH...I appreciate the link a lot. It's not much that I'm doing here by donating these, but it makes me feel that maybe someone over there will be a little bit happier by getting more letters, pictures and videos from back home. Whoever came up with this idea should be praised. I would much rather give my invitations to a cause like this than the 15 year olds on G4TTV...

  10. im not privy to this g-mail.i know on c.f.h there was quite a big discussion.on it lots foe it and lots against it.my Q is what is the difference between it and any other email appli.

being invited to join does that put it in the exclusive range.that being invited is an old trick to make you feel wanted.

i agree with cow about advertisment.come on whats wrong with hot mail.outlook.pegusses.outlookexpress.ect you dont have to be invited to join them and they do the same sort of work.

not sure i agree with this ad thing.it just puts bestteche under more pressure

weather to accept these posts or not and right now we dont need that on the board.

    Marty -

I know what you mean about the old invite trick to make people feel "wanted", but I don't think that's what Google is doing here... Well, I think they are in a way because they want the beta to be a somewhat-exclusive thing. But, I don't think that's the only reason it's being done.

Gmail is a legit email service, provided by Google. You've heard of them on CFH, yes. And probably also on TSS. They were mentioned very affectionately on both programs as being the "next step" in webmail, and I fully agree with that assessment. Gmail is "the new hotness". They have some functionality features that will make Yahoo and Hotmail scramble to get on board eventually.

They want testers for it, and want a good amount of testers, but they don't want the number they'd get if they opened it up for open enrollment like Yahoo or Hotmail...so that's why they're allowing current members (once they've gotten several emails under their belts) to invite friends. Or, in the TSS and Tech Support boards at G4's cases, total strangers. :P But, it spreads the wealth without opening the floodgates.

    Just my thoughts on it...

  11. I can't figure out why some people get invites out the yang and some don't. I have gotten one the whole time I have had Gmail........Hahahahahaha.....must do it by lottery or something and if that's the case I will never have another one.....

Actually, il_wiccan, I think it has more to do with how much you use it. I talk with a few of my friends several times a day on it - almost like a chat back and forth which is handy cause it logs it like a conversation. But, whenever I go through my 6 invites they give me, I almost always have another 6 within 24 hours. I've had 12 given to me so far.

  12. You can do it, JD - it's not easy otherwise people that make the patch and the gum and all that would be out of business...but you can do it if you set your mind to it. My dad was a 4-pack a day guy and quit finally last year after having heart surgery...he's so happy now that he did that he doesn't know why it took him so long. I reminded him why - stubbornness...lol. Of course, this was after the nic-fits had stopped or he probably still woulda smacked the crap outta me. ;)

Moral of my blabber - keep on keeping on dude...the destination is worth the journey.

  13. Well, I gave a couple away to our Men (and Woman) over seas in the gulf. They really enjoy gmail for the reason as being over there and only having limited time at the back lines to get e-mails from family and friends, That yahoo and hotmail, etc. run out of space real fast when everyone is sending pictures and long e-mails. with gmail they can get alot of mail and pictures.

Also gmail is good for storing files and other things on, you can archive things and use it as a personal library if you want.

That's a fantastic idea. Is there a place where you can find service men and women who are looking for them? I would happily the ones I have towards such a cause. That's a great idea.
