  1. External drives are perfect for backups, fast, easy to store securely.

If you image the C drive (with Norton Ghost for example) you can restore everything after a problem. Operating system, programs, data, whatever.

It's like the ultimate System Restore, no hunting for drivers or reinstalling applications.

That's what I do with my external drives.

You can image your other (data/documents?) partition as well.

Image backups do take a little longer than other styles of backup, but I think they're worth it.

Why couldn't I just copy & Paste or drag the C: drive to the external partition? What is the advantage of using progams like ghost?

  2. For unknown reasons the mouse pointer started working.  Nothing was done except rebooting 2 or 3 times since the problem arose.  I'm keeping an eye on it tho and also will remove that Kodak thingy.

    Thanks tenmm.

BTW, what is the Warn: (0%) below my avatar in all my posts?  Did I do something wrong?  How much trouble am I in?

    ..... . ...

For something that intermitent (sp), I would check out the connector at the CPU....

Is it a USB? Also check for an updated driver.

As far as the *warn* goes... we all have one, visable only to oneself. Kind of a hall monitor so-to-speak.

    Thanks maxdog4.

  3. Hahahaha....Ok here's is one you don't see around much but from the command line defrag c: -b will defrag the prefetch file and it really does make a difference on boot up if the file is really fragmented......

Hey il_wiccan, you have to explain to this newbie in simpler terms how this is done...please! Thanks.
