Maybe This will help you out.
Good Luck
Thanks Vile_DR. I think I'm on the right track. It's quite late here so I'm going to get some rest and continue tomorrow. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I use MS Outlook for email and FireFox for my browser. My problem is that clicking on any hyperlink in Outlook, doesn't seek out and open in FireFox. Instead, I get a "Locate Link Browser" window and I don't know what to do with it. The only way I can get the hyperlink to work is to Cut & Paste to my browser. If I set IE and OE as default browser and email, the hyperlinks work normally with IE & OE only, but I don't want to use IE and OE. The hyperlinks used to work regardless of which email program or browser was defaulted. Does anyone know what's going on?

......, tried to find the old version with no luck. If anyone has the url for the older version please share it with us. ........
A tip/suggestion:
Whenever you download a program, save the installer. That way if you ever have a problem, such as this, it's just a matter of falling back to a previous version.
This is the way I do it:
In the My Documents folder, I have a folder named Installers.
In that folder, I have folders for each program; Firefox, Ad-aware, Spybot, Irfanview, etc....
In each of these folders, I have a folder for each version; Firebird v0.7, Firefox v0.8, Firefox v0.9, Firefox v0.9.2, etc...
In each of these folders, I put the installers, and a Notepad doc.
In the Notepad doc, I put all the important info about the installer, that I copy & paste from the website.
Then you can burn your Installers folder, when you burn your back-up disk.
That way, if you ever have a problem with a newer version of a program, or have to reinstall your OS, you have all of your programs on disk, and ready to install. No need to waste time re-downloading all of your programs (especially if you're on dial-up).
Just my $.02 worth.
Hey, thanks tg, I like your system. I'm going to redo my My Documents file like yours. I still haven't found a link to the older sygate version though.

I had the same problem as suzanne, tried to find the old version with no luck. If anyone has the url for the older version please share it with us. I'm currently at the mercy of Windows firewall and about ready to try zonealarm but prefer sygate.
Thank you!

Hey JSKY do you have to always open the TClock program? And pueo38 is it a digital clock or the one like the pic? http://clocx.fi.cz/
ClocX is analog with "Hour", "Minute", and "Second" hands. It opens to the desk top on bootup, has a good number of skins to choose from, you can size it and place it anywhere on your desktop. The date can be placed on the clock face too!
=EDIT=
It's free so it won't cost you anything but time to try.

Thanks tq1911.

pueo38, use instead. Also, switch where the URL and the text goes.
I forgot to link to crackmonkey.us's site dedicated to the blackbox for windows project.
Thanks Snaxe. Are the link formats here different from those used over on the G4 tech forum?

Is there a way to take the clock you have on the taskbar and make it look cool like the one on Linux or something better?
Hey X-Cannon , try [L=ClocX]http://clocx.fi.cz/[/L].
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for but I've been using ClocX for almost a year and like it very much. It's got many skins to choose from and other features I'm sure you'll find interesting. Enjoy!
=EDIT=
Oops!....don't know what happened to the link. Anyway just go to:

A friend can't send messages in OE. They go as far as the 'Outbox'.
She get's the following 'Error Message:'
Error Message:
Your SMTP server has not responded in 180 seconds. Would you like to wait another 180 seconds for the server to respond?
Account: pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com(1)
Server: smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
She says OE has never worked and sbcglobal techies couldn't fix it so she's been using yahoo mail. I suspect the setup is probably not right but I don't know enough to be sure. Anyone have a fix?
Thank you!
She runs:
XPHome
P4 2.0
HDD 40G
RAM 256
DSL sbcglobal

I just began using Tbird 4-5 days ago and I like this one so well I've made it my primary email client. If you're familiar with IE or OE you'll feel right at home with Tbird. I've tried others including the new Gmail and have used OE for over a year and I vote Tbird. It's got everything OE has and more but you need to try it and decide for yourself.

I found this: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679
Going thru the checks under Resolution:
[Q]RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
1. Quit all programs that are running.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below):
* Shdocvw.dll
* Msjava.dll
* Actxprxy.dll
* Oleaut32.dll
* Mshtml.dll
* Browseui.dll
* Shell32.dll (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)[/Q]
* Browesui.dll does nut check out and I get the following message:
RegSvr32
LoadLibrary("browesui.dll") failed. - The specified module could not be found.
Anyone know how I can correct this and will this solve my OE links problem?
Thank you!

For unknown reasons the mouse pointer started working. Nothing was done except rebooting 2 or 3 times since the problem arose. I'm keeping an eye on it tho and also will remove that Kodak thingy.
Thanks tenmm.
Well, the darn thing is acting up again working intermittantly. All connections rechecked. How does one go about checking/updating drivers?

Looks to be a 9/11 scenario on SP2 only this time M$ is sending invitations. Who knows what can happen if all the bad guys get together on this one.
Not all hackers are bad or criminals some don't hack into computers to get credit card numbers or black mail people some hackers try to help companies out by finding weak spots in some software etc...
I understand that but when M$ boldly issues an open challenge you know there are those that will try...and try harder. This is akin to erecting a big white guarded wall on main street then invite the graffiti guys to try and tag it. You know some will try. It would have been better if the challenge was not made.

have you tried using another email client such as Mozilla's Thunderbird to see if you could get it working in there?
I believe I remember that thread over at G4.....correct me if I am wrong here....
You tried running all your up-to-date antivirus and spyware scans with no luck there. You checked your settings in OE and nothing looked out of place. When you click on the link, you don't get any error messages or anything.....nothing happens.
Did you try posting a HJT log?
Nerelda
You're on the right track, I ran all the updated scans, checked, rechecked, set and reset all the settings that were suggested by all the good people here but it still doesn't work and no error messages appear.
I didn't post a HJT log because no one suggested it so I figure it's not an HJT issue.
==================================================
I know you said it's set as default browser, but please just bare with me...Open OE.
Tools> Options> Connections> Change
Click the Programs tab.
Uncheck "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser."
Then:
In Firefox: Tools> Options> General> Click "Check Now"> Click "Yes"
That should do it.
inihl8r
Thanks for trying but that didn't do it.

I first posted this problem on the G4TTV board but the thread was begining to go off-topic and off in different directions so I closed it. I'm posting here hoping for better results.
I can'open any links in OE. Attachments open ok and everything works fine in IE. My default browser is FireFox. If I set default to IE, links open ok in OE but I don't want IE as default browser. Solution anyone?
