The Dragon Slayer
How do I make the BIOS to recognise the SATA drive? BIOS only shows IDE1 to CD, IDE2 to DVD, then the floppy. No mention of the SATA drive. I keep stuck at "Drive not recognise" during the XP installation. I have pressed F6 to load sata driver during setup; but it still doesn't work. Any help is appreciated. I'm kind of stuck now staring at my new built computer.

The Dragon Slayer
Seagate sata 120gbGigabyte GA7VM400AMFVIA VT8237Boot sequence: CD-SCSI-FloppyI have tried again. No luck. I have read the manual many times as well.
Nerelda
ok, since I"m not too sure what youve already done, please bear with me.What drivers did you load? Where they the most up to date? The hard drive may just need to be wiped. (even if it is brand new) Did the seagate come with a floppy or disk for wiping the hard drive or anything? if so, Use that to completely wipe the drive, then try installing windows again.Make sure that the drive is spinning up. The Dragon Slayer
I used Seagate discwizard starter edition to load, drive is not recognised. I used the bootable XP disc, same thing happened. I loaded the SATA drive extracted from the Gigabyte driver disc. What do you mean by "wiped".How do I check the hd is spinning? The fan are noisy. Thanks.
Nerelda
to check that the HD is spinning, you'll just have to listen very closely to see if you hear it spinning up.By "wiping" the hard drive, I mean using a program such as Active Killdisk to completely wipe off any information from the hard drive. I know it sounds dumb, but trust me, it's worth a shot. It's how I fixed a similar issue with my IDE HD, and how someone was able to fix another issue with their SATA drive.Let me know if that works for you.
