Hey thanks for your help. The internet explorer problem seemed to be fixed but all of a sudden my firefox is acting up, firstly all my quicksearch engines disappeared and it refuses to let me add more. Also, whenever i open my firefox it opens in a specific location on the screen and in a particular size no matter how much i change it. The Bookmarks toolbar also keeps enabling itself for some reason. I fear that if i reinstall firefox all my saved passwords will be lost which i cannot afford to. Furthermore, I just checked in my TaskManager there is a new entry called "ldanw32.exe" It never was there before. Before following the steps outlined in your last steps, I would get an error whenever I started my computer concering ldanw32.exe, I uninstalled IE beta7 and that error stopped coming. My IE as mentioned above is functioning fine but I still see this process in my TaskManager and my firefox is messed up now. Please advice.

The jotti file report is attached

I successfully:

deleted the specific enteries you requested in the HJT scan.

did the Host file procedure.

did the KillBox steps (I did NOT recieve any PendingFileRenameOperations prompts)

When I went to cmd and wrote "sc delete BOONTY" I got a message saying that there is no such service.

I deleted the Boonty folder.

I did the ATF procedure.

Please find attached the panda scan and Hijack This reports aswell.

Download WindPFind

Extract WinPFind.zip to your c:\ folder.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then open c:\WinPFind and double-click on WinPFind.exe.

When the program is open, click on the Start Scan button to start scanning your computer. Be patient as this scan may take a while.

When it is done, it will show a log and tell you the scan is completed. Reboot your computer back to normal mode and and post the contents of c:\WinPFind\WinPFind.txt as a reply to this topic.

We'll deal with that in a bit. Thank you very much for submitting that file. Experts have analyzed it, and sent it of to many security companies and organizations. It is a new piece of malware, and you may still have remnants on your machine. We're going to try to find and kill those. What you had was a Trojan that logs any and all keystrokes and sends them to a third-party. One of the experts that analyzed the file sent me the following information:

Any user infected with this needs to change all their passwords right away from a clean computer or after their computer is cleaned of the malware. They could be victims of identity theft and should put their banks/credit companies on alert, since this thing captures all keytrokes.

As we are not sure yet if there are still remnants on your machine, if you have access to another computer, it would be wise to change passwords on that. If you do any online banking or purchasing using credit cards or other personal information, I would also suggest you alert your credit card companies, banks, and financial institutions, as your information may have been stolen. From this malware you may become a victim of identy theft.

If you have any idea how/where you became infected, that information would be greatly appreciated.

  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the All Files button.

[*]Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\dnertex32.dll

    C:\WINDOWS\mwin.dll

    C:\WINDOWS\mkr32.atr

[*] Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.

[*]Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

Try getting a winpfind log again. If you cannot get into Safe Mode, run it from Normal Windows.

Hey,

You are right Matt my paypal account's balance was transfered to an unknown person. The thing is I have all the passwords saved in my firefox, I dont do any online banking from this pc other than my paypal, the password of which is again stored in my firefox (remember my password feature). Thanks for the heads up and all the time and effort you have put into helping me, I really appreciate it. I am going to delete the files with killbox you just suggested and try to run winpfind.

As for how I got infected, I have no clue. I thought I kept my pc clean with McAfee virusscan, windows firewall set on max, all popups blocked, using firefox, adaware, cw-shredder and spybot search and destroy regularly. So I am clueless on that part, my appologies.

Thanks,

Mind
