Laptop Memory Question

I am a little unsure of the memory this laptop needs

the service manual just says use "ddr266 sdram" That does not seem very specific.

yes, that is what DDR266 is.

some manufactures don't get very specific when it comes to memory.

but that is what it is, PC2100 sodimm, 200 pin.

and the max ram you can have is 1GB of ram.

you can have 2 sticks of 512mb. it comes with 1 stick of 256mb from the factory.

if you are goping to add ram, may i suggest, just replace the ram you have with new sticks of ram, from the same manufacture. mixing brands of ram can sometimes have problems, like random crashing and freezing up.

You can also use PC3200 (ddr400) since it's backwards compatible with lower speed memory (like how PC133 works in PC100 boards)

I happened to upgrade memery in a laptop a while back. That laptop only had one slot, so I has to remove the single 256mb stick to make room for a 512mb. Since I already have a 256mb, I will give it a try and see how it works.
