shanenin
I was just getting ready to take an other crack at making linux the OS for my video jukebox(windows is annoying me). I am installing a fresh copy of gentoo. I like to check out the install docs to see what has changed. I noticed stage 1 or stage 2 installs are no longer supported. Do you guys know why these(stage1&2) were removed form the main gentoo install guide? Edited April 2, 2006 by shanenin
iccaros
hmmstage 1 and two are missing from the documents, but they are still on the serverhttp://gentoo.osuosl.org/releases/x86/current/stages/I'll have to look into this..
shanenin
I usually just do a stage 3 anyways. I was more just curious.
shanenin
my guess is they are just trying to simplifiy the installation for most people. Following the guide without many options gives less room for error. Since they still allow you to download other stage tarballs, you can still do a stage one if you want to look a little harder for the docs.
