For some reason nero wont let me burn to memorex dvd-r at 16X. but only at 8X. the discs are 16X compatible and so is the drive. Am i missing a plugin for nero or something? because i dont see the option to burn at 16X all i see is 8X and below. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
Dragon Posted March 22, 2006 Report Share Posted March 22, 2006 nero will burn at the highest rate that the computer can handle, for example my burner will accept 12x but the highest I have ever gotten it to go was 8x. it all depends on the cache, the ram, and the pipeline for the CPU Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Dragon Posted March 23, 2006 Report Share Posted March 23, 2006 first off because no one questions the speed, they are generally happy that it works you have 128k cach with 267MHz fsb.This can be changed to 400fsb with proper overclocking, however you risk burning your processor up. Intel chipsets are not properly designed for Overclocking. Thats why most gaming machines have AMD chipsets, they overclock easily without high risk for damage to the CPU. StealthG Posted March 23, 2006 Author Report Share Posted March 23, 2006 I dont think i will be overclocking since i dont think that its worth the risk. the only reason why i brought it up was because i thought there was something wrong with the dvd burner since it wouldnt burn at 16X. and i had no idea that computer specs can determine how well a drive can perform. but thank you for all your help fellow besttechie!
