Pc Froze, Now Firefox Won't Connect

Recommended Posts

This mornin I sat down at my desk, turned on the monitor and tried to move the mouse. However, the computer was frozen. Even Control+Alt+Delete didnt work. I had hit the restart button on the tower. It cut off and started to reboot, but it never got past the Intel (mottherboard) screen. I hit the power button, let it sit for a couple seconds, then turned it on again. This time it booted fine, but now Firefox will NOT connect to the internet. Everything else including IE will though. Ive reinstalled it, but still the same.

Also, when ever I "Restart" my computer it gets stuck at the Intel screen. I have to shut down my computer, then start it to get it to boot up.

Whats the deal?

Does it boot into Safe Mode then shutdown/restart okay?

Thanks for the reply TT.

I solved the boot up issue. When I installed my new HDD i never unplugged my old one. I unplugged it now it boots fine.

FF worked fine in safe mode. So, I guess something must be blocking it?

THe only software firewall I use is window's firewall, and even with it disabled FF wont work.

Hmm. Very Strange.

ALthough I used CodeStuff Starter to stop Zone Alarm from starting up a couple weeks ago, and it didnt show up in my task manager or system tray, it was running.

I went to uninstall it just to be sure it was the problem, and it had to "Shutdown True Vector Monitor" before it could uninstall.

Anyway, that was the problem.

Thanks for the help.

glad you got it sorted out.

even though codestuff starter stopped it, it couldn't remove the registry entry for vsmon.exe to not run. It's a safety protocol put in place by ZoneLabs to prevent complete shutdown of the service by a malicious code.
