Deucehearts
Hi everybody. I am currently building a PC and got stuck when it came to finding a motherboard. I know I want to get an AMD Athlon X2 4800 and pretty much gut out my old Dell Dimension 8200 for its sound card, CD-ROM, DVD+RW/CD-RW. After looking at a bunch of differnent motherboards I came to the conclusion that I had no idea what to get. I was looking at the Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe after reading a review in MaximumPC but after looking at the price and what it all came with I thought that maybe that wouldnt be the best choice since it has onboard sound and I already have a sound card.Anyways I dont know what kind of motherboard to get. I am looking for this computer to last me a couple of years(thats why I thought the X2 4800 was a good idea. is it?) Price really isn't all that important, I just don't want to buy one that has a bunch of stuff I will never use. Thanks for all your help once again this forum definately rocks.P.S. If you know of any decent cases let me know, it became difficult for me as well to know what I need, what is good.
Honda_Boy
Are you going to be gaming?do you need somethig that supports SLI?. I'd go for anything made by Asus Gigabyte or MSI. My preference for chipsets is the nForce 4 Series. If you need SLI I'd get the nForce 4 SLI or the SLI 16X.
CommonRider
Check out the DFI Lan Party mobo's. All are good. As for a case, i prefer the classic clean look. Check out the antec sonata. Supposed to keep things quiet too.
xxkbxx
For an X2 4800 Go with an ASUS SLI - either the regular or the premium.I'm happy with mine - it's great with my X2 3800
