martymas
i agree with peterm. also power options will do this, depending on your mother board, go to power options. and on the tool bar look for a tab APM.open it and check the box below,if it isnt there it can be enabled in the bios.if your mobo dosent support this option, then you need to set all your, power options to always on, and never.to stop the restarts go to.control pannel- sys-advanced- start up and recovery-settings and uncheck automatic restarts.have you scanned for virus or spyware?marty Edited January 29, 2006 by martymas
Chappy
More info is definately needed for any real help here, the basics are OS version with what updates are installed, RAM & HDD capacity, AV & firewall info, and any changes recently made.If this is XP, follow Marty's post to turn off auto restarts which will force a BSOD on the next restart (crash). Post the contents of the BSOD screen in this post, EXACTLY as it is including punctuation. That is researchable information and tells us what failed to cause the restart.Turn off auto restarts:Open Control Panel - System - Advanced tab - startup & recovery box, settings button, and take the check out of Automatically restart box. Then check the Write a system event, and the Admin alert boxes. This also writes an alert into Event Viewer that may help also, so open control panel - admin tools - event viewer, and check the System & Application events for an entry with a red circle/x at the time of the crash and post that as well.
