HPoirot36
I have a wireless mouse (2,in fact,on 2 computers) and have been told that the surface color of the pad (or desk, etc) affects the battery life.Anyone know more about this? I was told by someone that ligher surfaces extend battery life.
Sir_Siddy
I have never actually heard of it but i guess it could make sence in a way. If the mouse had the option it wouldnt have to use the full laser power to detect movement on a light surface Edited January 12, 2006 by Sir_Siddy
Bubba Bob
You can buy a silver mouse bad that is supposed to increase your battery life, but I dnt know if it actually does or not.
Aluvus
Surface color affects the mouse's ability to track, and if it tracks poorly you'll end up waving it around more and burning more battery power. So there's that, I guess. The only way I could see this making a substantial difference to battery life is if the mouse adjusted the intensity of its illuminating LED based on the surface color, which AFAIK none do. tictoc5150
I've heard that dark pads can kill batteries quicker than light so I got rid of my black pad and found a substantial improvement in life between charges.I don't think I've ever heard why but it doesn't really matter to me anyway. Thanks for all the replies. I think I'll go with a light colored surface.
